So I found this linked from the XKCD blag, some of you may have read it. But it nicely demonstrates some of the idiosyncracies of network admining

The case of the 500-mile email

To briefly summarise, it's about a University Sys admin, one of whose email servers encountered an issue where it couldn't send an email MORE than a geographical 500miles!

Makes sense to me. Not really a "wtf" thing. If it only accepts connections to servers that will instantly reply, then it makes sense *-)

That units program is quite funky though.
