Duren
In Cryo Sleep
Hello All,
As I've done before I try and update people on whats going on and why I'm not about as much as I used to be, (It has been said that instead of knowing all of THN as I used to I know very few of you now, which I hope to rectify) though now I've been around the last couple of months alot more than what I had been for the past year. This was essentially since my big move from sunny side up portrush to Belfast.
As usual things have changed and an era in my life is closing now. Tomorrow is my last day working with BT, from my start so long ago working with the NIHE travelling about to different sites every day to working in Enterprise house on the side of belfast lough. In honesty I'm going to miss it but I'm moving onto something alot different and a big career move in my life. I recently got the position of Junior Analyst with Citigroup, a huge international banking and financial services business. I'll be working in their SATS/UNIX department, working on their Red Hat Linux (I can hear Haven cursing at the distribution already ) This I've never done before in a professional capacity and its going to be something very new for me.
Though I have a big, if not huge, thanks to give haven that I've never properly given before as without him I'd not have learnt all that I have on Linux. He is a great teacher if sometimes a bit sarky and impatient and he was always able to point me in the right direction, or give me a nudge when I needed it. Though thanks also has to go out to the community as without them I'd not have been working on Linux servers also as it was all the experience from that that got me the job.
My plans for the future....
Well tomorrow is my last day with BT, after that I plan to take a week off and come over and see you all in Scotland for our annual meet, drink some bear, catch some waves and generally have some fun... it will be great to meet some old faces and some new.
Though will I be returning for good?.. the short answer is yes, within the next couple of months I'm trying to get an apartment of my own and broadband all of my own (alot of you will snigger at this, yes yes I am a war driver jokes aside ) and get myself set up somewhere comfortable. This hopefully won't take too long but you'll have me around again on a regular basis and hopefully I can take up some of the responsbility I dropped oh so long ago.
I would like to see a THN server resurface hopefully stronger than before though this will be talk for the future.
Lets look forward to a great meet next week
Take care all
