The Great THN Trackmania Extravaganza!

Well it occurred to me yesterday that Trackmania is free. This means that ANYONE can play it! FREE!

You can download it from Steam. Free.

Did I mention it was free?

Anyway, come one, come all (it's free btw) to the Great THN Trackmania Extravaganza of 2008!

The Event shall consist of finding a public server (TM is free) with varied tracks, joining it, racing around alot and having fun in the process.

ANYONE is welcome to join (PS the game is free) and we can of course start earlier/later according to people's preferences.

There is a particular server that I like to play on, so I will no doubt be starting there and trying to get you lot to join me, however (its FREE DAMMIT) if anyone else has their own favourite servers then we can of course go and play elsewhere

Just had a thought - if there is enough interest, we could perhaps look at hosting our own TM server on Promethius

That way we can have whatever tracks we want on it...

It's amazing more ppl dson't play tmn considering it has been free since Autumn 2006.

Am loving TMNF now as well and server side seem even more modable than the original which is saying somet.

Anyway will look forward to this one.

This does not matter as long as you have fun while you are sucking at it

As long as we can get some basics in with the more technical ones and avoid tracks that recquire perfect speed around the track then we can all have fun tbh, thems that haven't played much can have a lark and me and bloke can try and remember how to do it fast .

There is a nice mix and plenty of good tracks about for tmnf as well so should be a good event

By the way, Steam are currently offering the paid-for upgrade to Trackmania Nations (Trackmania United) at half price.

I got forever before it was unitedised, not that fussed on it tbh, much prefer normal free version, although the ability to get new car skins is always nice.

Also regarding servers the best thing would be to try an get one up but not sure any of the TMNF players are about to know what sort of thing to look for, better to get an emptier good server rather than a packed one as it becomes less personal and less THNy.

The plan is simple.

Join the Trackmania channel in teamspeak, and then we will join a public server from the gaming community "UK Game Players" and start there. They have a good mix of technical and fun tracks.

We can then decide as the night progresses if we want to try a different server (maybe one with more beginner tracks)
