The perfect breakfast

There doesnt seem to be much debate over serious matters going on recently, so I will start a new one off.

What comprises the Perfect breakfast for you?

Does the 'Full English' float your boat, or are you odd enough to enjoy some freshly grilled Kippers?

For me its got to be a very plain Bacon n' eggs, loads of toast n' ketchup, washed down with endless mugs of tea.

The reality is always very different, I very rarely get more than a couple of brews down me before 2pm. Im just too busy in the mornings too take the time out for food.

Which takes me to my next question of:

What is your normal routine for food in the morning?

Are you a student who rolls out of bed about 2pm, and then finishes off last nights pizza, or are you lucky to have a mother who wakes you up with a feast already waiting for you?

The topic of which cereal you prefer has already been brought up recently, but dont let that stop you from discussing the whys, wheres and whatnots of your morning Muselis and cereal bars.

Im also quite sure there is somebody out there who eats chocolate and crisp for breakfast as the norm..The lucky git:)

Hey cool discussion idea, I mostly prefer the classic sausage and mash tbh, maybe a bit of hardboiled and bacon, but I usually dont eat breakfast, so I pig at lunchtime

Eggs. Bacon. Coffee.

Reality:
1. Wake up
2. Put on clothes (Optional)
3. Drive to wherever I was supposed to be five minutes ago

Luckily when I'm in school, the burger place serves good breakfast if you happen to forget to go to first period. Or if you feel gutsy and leave halfway through. :D

Average day:
  • Bowl of Weetabix Minis: Fruit and Nut
  • Glass of orange or apple juice
  • Coffee

The best breakfast ever:
  • Bacon sandwich (bacon the English way, not American - lots of meat, no fat, and only JUST crispy, not hard) with tomato ketchup.
  • Coffee
  • Orange juice
  • Mango
  • Pain au Chocolat
  • Cold pizza (usually spicy chicken)

HMMMMM! I'm hungry now damn you :(

The perfect breakfast is, quite simply, the Full English. Bacon, sausage, beans, egg, mushroom, hash browns, black pudding and toast (or sometimes fried bread)... with a cup of tea.

I can get all that (minus the black pudding unfotunately) for ?2.45 from my own student's union... so I'm a bit of a regular there ;)

lately i've been a bit naughty and haven't been eating breakfast at all, but normally it would be a bowl of some kelloggs cereal, as long as it hasn't got any kind of fruit in it whatsoever!

perfect breakfast? that would be fresh OJ or maybe a smoothie, fresh baked bread with tons of fun things to put on it (parma ham, ruccola, a nice cheese, etc), a double macchiato (Illy), and possibly omelette + bacon (although we're dangerously close to brunch country here).

reality breakfast: cup of tea, bowl of Special K + milk, 2 sandwiches with salami or pate.

I would also like to ask who actually manages to eat a full english breakfast first thing in the morning? or the dreaded ulster fry? wouldn't those be more suited as brunches (technicalities, how I love them)?

Hmm, how can you people eat so much at breakfast. :(

Mine would be:
Freshly baked croissants, almost hard boiled eggs, some butter, a bit of fruit, coffee, and some toast or other good bread and plenty of things to choose from to put on it.

Hotel breakfasts as you get them in France offer all this.

Yes I must admit, the French know how to make a breakfast, you can't beat their bread
Also Bread in Belgium is nice

Simply I don't eat breakfast. I'm never hungry when I wake up in the morning even If I wake up at 1:00pm. Im just one of those people who do not feel like food when they wake up.

I have the occasional Roll 'n Sausage, but thats like once in a blue moon :P.

Two things
1. Cutting the fat off of proper bacon would leave you with nothing.
2. Proper bacon isn't crispy, either.

:p

You are so right. :)

Homemade smoothie, containing natural yoghurt, bananas, plus any of blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, and/or strawberries. Extremely tasty. I'd just have that for breakfast.

That said, I think my single favourite breakfast was served at the McMenamin's Edgefield in Portland, Oregon, USA -- Eggs Benedict. Mmmm...

At the moment...

Not much. A large glass of fruit juice and perhaps a couple of slices of white toast with peanut butter, or maybe some coco-pops, or maybe I'm up so late I just don't bother with breakfast and start with lunch instead.

Hmm, breakfast eh...

Weekdays it's cereal. Kellogs Crunchy Nut, a mug of tea (if I can drink it) and some spring water or OJ (depends which one I find first).

Weekends is usually brunch cause I'm getting up later.

If I want somethings light cause I'm going cycling etc... then it's scrambled eggs on toast with ketchup. If I can find enough of the right ingredients, a fry up is always a good thing. :) No beans though, save those for greasy spoon cafes.

I do like the old continental style breakfast but it doesn't really work in England. If it did I'd probably be eating Docbot's perfect breakfast every day!

The perfect breakfast:

Crispy bacon on a buttered freshly warmed Chiabata and some fresh tomatoes.

A cup of tea with a spoonfull of honey in.

Delivered to my bed by a beautiful woman wearing just my T-Shirt from the night before.

I could live with that :)

As they say, breakfast is the most important meal of the day (no, seriously, it is) although I don't seem to get much of one these days.

My perfect breakfast:
- Lightly crisp bacon with link sausage in a roll. Mmmm. :)
-Whoever suggested fresh OJ: I agree with you 100%, nothing quite like it... except fresh apple? :)

I think my ideal breakfast would have to be croissants straight from the oven, a glass of freshly squeezed OJ, and a large mug of steaming hot coffee. All out on the balcony, with some relaxing music on inside, and either a good book, or the Saturday Guardian.

In reallity its a rushed bowl of porridge and cup of milk while I make my sandwiches for lunch!
