The Tree Pictures

I had mentioned earlier that one of the big trees down the street almost landed on my neighbour's place because of the wind last night. I got some pictures of it from my front lawn, they're a little far away, but you get the idea. Besides, it's too cold to walk down the street, and taking pictures of people as they try to move the giant tree from their yard is mean. ;)

Two pics of the tree on the ground. The thing was actually uprooted, ripping out large chunks of dirt and a good piece of paved driveway with it. They had most of the roots and dirt cut away and cleaned up by the time I got home. It clipped their house on the way down, but didn't do much visible damage. Had it fallen a couple of feet to the right, it would've been a different story.

And a quick photo of one of the trees still standing, for an idea of just how tall the tree was.

Agreed. That is one scary tree.

There's one tree like that in someone's garden where I live - it's right next to the road and you can see half of the roots due to the fact it's on a hill - although admittedly it doesn't look as precarious at that one!

Reminds me of the time we were cutting the top off a big tree in our garden. We did it all completely unprofessionaly. Ropes tied around the top so we could pull at it towards where we wanted it to fall so it didn't land on our next door neighbours green house. Thing still fell towards the greenhouse....but swung into our garden before causing damage. Not that we would have cared :D

possibly when they charged you obscene amounts of money for the greenhouse - those things are expensive ;P

Our gardens are small and they ridiculously squeezed in a jungle into that tiny garden space. It looks ridiculous, once more they are arrogant gits who waltz into our garden and moved our slabs without asking so they could repair their fence....
However, the tiles on our roofs did the job for us by flying off and smashing their greenhouse :)

ah well, then it's the insurane company who pays :D hooray!

(didn't they move the slabs back afterwards? neighbour feuds are fun)

(although I prefer to be an outside observer)

They did, of course, move the slabs back afterward. What annoyed my parents (and annoys me) is that they didn't ask first. We would have had no problem with it if they did. My mum sees them moving a slab and asks from the window what they are doing...then they walk into our garden and knock on our kitchen door to explain (in an angry tone) why they have moved our slabs.
We explain to them the basic principle of being polite and asking first of all, then they make a crack about our garden not being exactly nice at all. So our garden not being all prettied up and looking like a fecking jungle means that they have the right to do what they want with it? Grrr if I wasn't asleep I would have punched him.
