Created by Arcade Fire (a band based in the UK for those who don't know) this is an interactive movie that uses a few, er, "tricks" to make it VERY funky.

Warning: it's very CPU intensive and will also create a large number of windows. This is supposed to happen.

Also, it will ask you for a road name for where you grew up (don't worry about a house number). This is also a requirement, though you could give it a different road or perhaps the address of a school or some other landmark.

Sound, while not required, is also heavily encouraged.

Watch, interact where it tells you to, and most of all, enjoy

I really dont see what is so impressive about it.

It overlays an image of someone running, completely out of scale, along a road in a google map image with some birds that fly over. and then it creates fuckloads of windows. and then lets you squiggle some random words in a box.

Underwhelmed completely by that. Don't get why people are hyping so much about it.

Maybe becuase how everything interacts with each other is cool? Maybe because I've not actually seen anything like that before? Maybe because the song is also quite cool?

Wow! My mouse is so cool. I move it around on my desk and this little picture moves around on my computer!


I guess I'm just a bit cynical as I've seen some of the funky things you can do with several moving head projectors and animations before that makes predefined static windows running predefined static videos at the same a bit.... dull.

They could have just made one video and played it back to give the same effect, just without the horrible window borders in the way.

It's awesome because most of the time the little 8-bit looking running guy runs over the tops of cars, and fails to use the pavement. This makes me think of Prototype, and amuses me.

Other than that I find it cheap and just as annoying as any other popup.
