[THN] PR 0.509 Server -- up for testing

Well, our PR server is up, running BF 1.41 and PR 0.509 -- promethius.thehavennet.org.uk (IP: 87.117.203.96 Port: 16567).

The map rotation is as declared in [thread=3564]another thread in this forum[/thread] and the config is largely vanilla. It might even qualify as PROS.

ABR is not currently enabled but I'd like it to be.

Please note, this server is firmly in testing at the moment. I reserve the right to take it down at little or no notice, for hours, if that's what's needed to get it to a point where the config, map rotation, etc are all good.

However, feel free to play. In fact, please do play as much as you can! Problems, crashes, crappy map rotation, whatever... report them here or in Hey Admins.

Currently, only myself and Piacular have rcon. Feel free to ask. Don't be offended if I refuse (which I will more often than not).

I'm going to look at server admin mods to see what can be done to help us all keep our server free of cheats, griefers and other nuisances. For now, just be sure to be friendly to everyone who joins and report problems to me with names, dates, ids, etc.

Awesome work there Ronin, on both setting up the server and the rotation! I would rep you (to try and cover more of the ground between you and bob ;)), but alas, I have rep'ed you already!

It could. It doesn't. As THN is an open community, theoretically any of them could be THNers. Maybe the distinction could/should be drawn as "THNers who have donated"?

It's not high on my priority list, though. Improved config/rotation, ABR, PunksBusted streaming and BF2CC are my priority list for the server just now.

By the looks of things unles i'm much mistaken there are no reserved slot so you just have to hope theres someone with the rcon pw online to be nice to you. Saying that its a community server so its a bit harsh to kick even for our own members.

Reserved slots in BF2 suck. They just keep them open continuously by either kicking on connect, or at some time after connection. Which is poop. Because you load the map, verify client data, and then get kicked. It also means that you can't have a full server without the people it's reserved for.

2142 system is better, allowing people to play until a reservee tries to join, at which point a random person is kicked. But it's still a bit mean :(

thats the 1 i ment reverved slots do suck, if it randomly kicks someone for a person with a [THN] prefix it will encourage people to join the community so they dont get kicked lol :D

sounded better in my head :p

hmmm not sure on bf2 but in 2142 don't you have to register individual soldier names as reserved rather than just checking clan tags.

Yeah, but in 2142 I'm pretty sure you have a certain number (configurable) slots open, and people (checked via name) can be put on a list to fill these slots. So you could have 5 people and 4 slots.

In BF2, it's just "if you're on the list, you can fill these slots, overwise, bum off!".
