To whoever has royally fucked up the nether teleports

They be broken.

Can you give me coordinates (Press F3 in game) of the portals which are broken for you and I'll try and go around and fix them.

Remember that portals need to be *FURTHER THAN* 1024 blocks apart from each other for them to generate a separate portal in the nether. Currently the one here:

are both within 1024 blocks of the one in the main THN village. If you go through those portals, you'll end up in the initial nether portal (I've put a sign next to it now), and then will end up coming back through the one in the main thn village instead of the one you went in through.

now I've heard mentions of floating portals somewhere, which although mentioned in the wiki, and silk says that theres one somewhere in the nether, I've not seen this yet!

Can someone possibly, if they ever end up in the nether, grab the coordinates of it for me and I can faff around trying to sort that one out.

After sleeping on it I know exactly what happened.

1, The nether server crashed at some point. Somehow this ended up with a bizzarre pairing in the nether from the town portal i.e. Three portals in a very large open area with a ghast and zombie pigs.

2, One of the three portals was elevated in the air for some reason. Someone in the guild must know about this, because there was a makeshift cobblestone platform and 1x set of stairs going down. Either it was on the floor and they dug all the netherrock away leaving it a very dangerous place to port in, or the portal generated in the air somehow. Hopefully one day someone can fill in the blanks here.

3, I did not realise, or I forgot, that ghast fireballs = fire. Therefore explaining why a portal mysteriously "closed" behind us the first time we ported into said large chasm. The bugger was firing at us from the second we arrived.

4, After porting in and dying and having that bloody ghast fire at us when we port in, we managed to accidentally deactivate all the portals. Bad because we couldn't get our stuff. Good because everyone else is now safe.

I sat earlier on today during my lunch hour and managed to patch together some of the files which went wrong with working counterparts, so the files which the nether consisted of before are now back, but its possible that *new* chunks in the nether will now be on a different seed as before, and therefore have odd lines in them somewhere because the level config file lost its seed.

The main portals around the initial hub now lead into a stone room. Theres a portal in trax's little village that goes to its respective portal. Not sure how many other portals are out there, but in theory they should work....

Ghasts do indeed put out portals, so make sure that if you go into the nether, you take a flint and steel! no idea how to reflect those fireballs, or even if you can :S

let me know if there are any major problems with the nether now.

Something that Mr Iron_first just pointed out - it may be worthwhile to regenerate the nether when we update to 1.9 as there are a lot of updates to new things within the nether ( http://i.imgur.com/3A7Jq.jpg ) and new structres too as far as I'm aware.

I think theres not a lot interesting in the nether so far, so we won't lose much if we regenerate it to include these new structures in.

thoughts people?
