Where would you rather live? In the country, with the lovely sounds of RAF aircraft shooting at each other overhead, or the town with the lovely sound of burglars breaking peoples necks?

Country for me. But only if there were AA emplacements available on the black market. Or maybe I could just visit the Chinese embassy :D

Town. The country is just not convenient enough imo.

That's so not true :)

I've voted country, but I mean something a little rural with plenty of access to town facilities. I don't actually want to live on a hill top somewhere... after all, there'd be no broadband, and how could I live without broadband?!

Town, i like to have everything within reach, and criminality isn't an issue in every neighborhood. In fact, i'd like to live a little more downtown than i do now.

But, i've never lived anywhere else, so i can't say i've had the opportunity to really compare the virtues and disadvantages of both.

I live in Sandhurst during the holidays, and Southampton during term-time. I love and hate them both.

Sandhurst is great for being quiet enough to be counted as "rural" (even with the RMA), yet I can get nice fast ADSL connections. However, the rearest proper town is Reading, which I can get to by the 15 minute train that goes through Sandhurst every hour, or the bus every 15 minutes that takes an hour! Rather annoying if I want to do something...

Southampton is nice cos there is a fair amount to do, there is more then one pub (and its not an old man pub), there are multiple cinemas, sports facilities, etc. However, from my room, I never hear the traffic stop. There is always at least one car or lorry going past (lorries are usually around 7am), and after living at the bottom of an estate, next to a forest you whole life, those sounds wake me up A LOT!

HOWEVER! Southampton isn't a horrid big city like London (hate the place - too big, too many people, too smelly, too grumpy, and too eugh!). Best quote from one of mine and thatbloke's lecturers: "Pick your nose after a day in Southampton, and then pick your nose after a day in London - Which one is black?" :D Eric Cooke ftw! \o/

So, where would I rather live... Well... Sandhampton of course! :D I couldn't say town or country, I need somewhere in between...

Town.

Having to drive home from drinking establishments really puts a damper on things.

When I'm living in a town I miss the greenery and wish I was in the country. When I'm in the country I miss the convenience of 24 hour stores a 1 min walk away and 16Mbit broadband.

The best would be a compromise, like Macca said :)

same, not living on Snowdonia or Ben Nevis, just a nice little village nearby to London, or Cardiff.
