TWG: The return!

I have decided that this board needs livening up a bit, so I'm going to start a game of The Werewolf Game (TWG). I would like this thread to be for discussion purposes for rules and such like and for signups. A new thread will be started for the game itself.

Please sign up for the game in this thread. I require the following from each of you:
  • Availability. You need to be available or be able to access these forums at least once during each game day.
  • I am going to propose that one game "day" lasts for a period of TWO days and one night. This is to help in case of availability issues that people may experience.
  • I am undecided on a theme for this game. A number of themes exist, we have done the classic Werewolf/Town in the middle of nowhere one twice already, would people like to stick with that or perhaps go for a different theme? Jedi/Sith, perhaps? Let me know and post here
I propose that the game wil start this time NEXT WEEK, that is, morning on the first day will begin when I get to work and make a post declaring that day has started at approximately 9am BST on Monday 13th August.

It is perfectly possible that during this game my own (home) internet connection will be cut off for a period of time (we are about to switch ISPs). In that event, I will make sure that daytime only happens at times when I will be at a pc and able to access the internet (which will be while I am at work, 8.30am-5pm Mon-Thurs, 8.30am-1pm Fri) OR I will make suitable arrangements for a second GM to take my place.

What rules would you like included/excluded? Information about the various common rules/roles can be found on wikipedia here.

Sorry to get your hopes up, but I reserve the right to cancel/pause this game at any time in case of lack of internet access. I will, however, do my utmost to cope with the situation.

Yeah, I'm interested. If only so that I can be destroyed by the evil machinations of Piacular. :D

We could always run an original (?) Mafia variant?

I'm up for a game, and should be able to post a couple of times each real world day.

I understand that you want to make the game available to everyone, but a 72 hour game day is a very long time, and people may lose interest. I'm presuming that those 72 hours includes the night time. Even though, that's a lot of time where not a lot will happen. I don't want to rain on your parade, I just don't want you to not like the experience of GMing a TWG! If you enjoy this, then hopefully you'll do one in the future! :D

I would also suggest (or really, remind) either sending out PMs to EVERYONE so that each person gets a "You wake up feeling blah" message every morning, so that certain annoying, overly observational people can't work out who is a special by looking at the "Who's online" bit, or to use XFire/MSN.

As for variants, as Ronin said, the Mafia one is also quite good for role playing, and as in the previous two game people got very into their roles (both GM related and player chosen) it could be quite good. You can also do Red Shirts vs Tribbles, which is usually a good laugh for the semi-geeks and interesting for the uber-geeks, while the GM can be very creative in deaths and the likes. Either that, or come up with something totally random, and go wild with your ideas!

Now, enough of my rambling, I'm up for the game!

Ok I think I'm gonna go for a Mafia theme. So this means go get your suits and your Tommy Guns :D

What I meant with the day is that a full day/night cycle will be 48 hours. That is, 1 and a half real world days will be "daytime" and the night of that second day will be the night period of that day. daytime will begin the following day.

The way I intend it to play out:

Day 1 starts on the monday at, say, 9am. That day lasts until about 9pm the following day, that day being Tuesday. This allows ample time for discussion. the first game night will begin at 9pm that tuesday and will last until 9am the following day, the wednesday. Rinse and repeat :D
