Volkswagen Golf - Sedate family hatchback? You'd be wrong!

I can't really see this being a car for the school run, but it is ultra-cool :D

Look at it!

Brumm!

0-60 in just 3.6 seconds, crazy! :D I'd love to roll this up beside a Ferrari, lure him into a false sense of security with the tame (I say tame, but only in the relative sense :D) hatchback looks and blow it away!

thats soooo damn cool. Hahahahahahah 3.6 from a hatchback. Be even more fun tbh to pull away next to a really smug tuned Porsche driver and not only beat them off the mark but completely destroy them. I do hate Porsche, horrible little tosser cars. Great find Tets. Brings back all kinds of feeling from driving me old mini, beating a BMW M3 from some traffic lights 3 times in a row, then having it sit behind me at 30 for the remainder of the journey. Except it that thing it could hold its own once you had to go over 30MPH. I want one.

A bit of national pride there from Dragon :D From German cars, you generally expect straight lines, modest styling and that everything works! Typically, they don't do hatchbacks dropped to the floor with mental engines and gigantic cow-catcher front air dams :p

ewwww the body kit on that makes it look ugly,

but i suppose looks arnt everything ;)

See, there's a difference here pubic.

This is an ugly body kit with faux-air dams (even on the skirts) and useless scoops that serve no purpose other than attempting to tart up the aesthetics.

This is a fully functional body kit where the massive skirt air dams feed airflow to the rear-mounted engine, and the exaggerated scoops try to maximise the downforce required to keep a hatchback glued to the tarmac at 180mph+. When you look at it in that light, I think it's awesome.

Functional does not equal pretty, though.

It's quite possible that every last bit of that kit is calculated and necessary, but that doesn't mean it looks good.

I thought that pubic was assuming the bodykit was aesthetic alone, I was just pointing out that it had a purpose in the W12's case. Whether you like it or not is, of course, up to you. I reckon it's pretty hot, mostly because it is a functional kit, much like a racecar. There are some cars that look a bit naff through functional form, like say the Ferrari Enzo.
