Waiting 5 seconds between searches problem

I would also like to add that anohter effect of this seems to be that I'm the orange icons for sorums, signifying that there are new/unread posts in them, but when I press new posts it says there are no new posts. And the orange posts are ones I have already read!

There was some substantial downtime (2-3 hours) last night that seemed to be affecting the entire network segment on which HavenHosting relies. I'm wondering if it was actually a power outage and some weirdness was caused in crashes / partially completed updates...
