To answer those players having connection issues even when their characters are not in an instance; this is also being investigated but only appears to be affecting specific realms.

Things are up and running again. Please note that you may experience game crash when attempting to access an instance(Apparently an issue with the instance servers at the moment)
So that might get you stuck and unable to log onto that character until things are sorted.
