how do i join the minecraft server as an admin or something so i can use the minecarts and stuff

You do not need to be an admin to use anything ... We're running a server where everyone has to build it themselves if they want it.

Currently anonymous build (well, anonymous destroy), is turned off after the url of the server was posted on the minecraftforum thing after the i42 competition as a preventative measure for any griefing which might have occurred.

If you let one of the server admins know your username, we can add you to the relevant builder group which lets you build. I just didnt want any griefers coming into the server and starting to destroy stuff around spawn! If things seem to be quiet, then ill enable anonymous build/destroy again and see how things go.

As long as it's an easy/relatively quick thing to get added to that list, I see no issue in maintaining this process in perpetuity. Griefing is always a risk and our MC server is well developed; it'd be a shame for a random griefer to wreck it.

Nope..... because I've added it to the "newbies" message for when someone first joins the server

However the MOTD only has two lines id want to keep: the welcome and the player list. The other two are up for debate really. I'd like the "/irc" message to be in there somewhere too. So if youve got any suggestions, im happy to give em a try.
