What happens now?

I'm sorry but ... if the situation now should calm down, I'll laugh my ass of and never believe in any of those threatenings again. I honestly think that now the situation in Iraq will become even worse, as Saddams fellowship now knows that they cannot expect any mercy, which will make them fight even harder and probably even more inhumanly. (strange word ... does that actually exist?) Surely I'd prefer a calm down in the Middle East ... but I think it will be a very long way till then.

I dont Know, Although it does now prove that no-one is above the law, Saddam Hussein is now no longer seen as scary or invincible by people who used to be under his reign. Some people will see him as a martyr others wont. But overall, thats one less evil to worry about :)

Most arab dictators actually die peacefully in their beds, so they are above the law. Saddam is the exception and it took an invasion for it to happen.

What happens now? Not much, i don't expect significantly more attacks or bombings as i suppose there are already as many as possible. It's the end of a chapter, but i don't think it'll change much in Iraq beyond that.

Edit: Saddam had already ceased being a worry when he was captured. I don't see the added value of a death penalty, life in prison was actually what he feared more.

I personally dont see why an invasion and thousands of Iraqi and coalition lives had to be lost for this. Has this final objective of operation Iraqi Freedom made the middle-east any better? No, and also this will do nothing to help the stiuation apart from give America an excuse to say 'We have done justice'. I think that this will actually make the division between the Sunni's and the Shi'a even greater and could potentially worsen the situation more.

Call me crazy or whatever ... but I bet that George Bush "killed" in his short term of presidency more people with his wars and provocations and whatever than Saddam Hussein "killed" in his whole life!

But don't forget it was Bush ( well Bush senior, ok) who delivered the weapons and "persuaded" him to do so, as they feared the fanatic Iranis!

But even that is nothing compared to the huge amount of African people dying to aids because Bush did not allow them to get the patent for producing anti-aids medicaments ( don't ask me what those do especially) for their own population for free (it is against the principles and rules of the free international market). Just to give an example.
