I think you can get most games to run on Linux if you mess around a bit with how they're installed. I remember seeing somewhere a version of Linux that was actually meant for playing games on.

I think that there's also different versions of some software that you can buy to run on Linux or Mac PCs.

Most blizzard games run on the Mac too... as for getting games running under Linux, you need to take a look at programs called Wine and Cedega.

Sorry to say it, but if you want to play games, your best bet is Windows.

If you want another operating system, try dual booting. But for games, I'm afraid Windows is the best choice atm.

If you do go the linux route then make sure you have an NVIDIA and not an ATI graphics card. Cedega is virtually useless running anything under ATI unfortunately *sulks*.

Hmm, curious. I ran Mandrake linux on a Geforce 3 back in '03... it was horribly slow at anything 3D. Even Tux Racer.

I ran red hat linux on a Geforce 3 back in 2002, Unreal Tournament was awesome. Shame it was still UT'99, i never liked that game much. :)

And yes, as haven says, ATI is useless in the linux world.
