What's all this then? Northrend Achievements and Guild Rep

1, I noticed the other day that we had a bunch of havenites running through Ulduar, stomping on dragons and pumelling molten rock giants with their large weapons. I would have liked to join, but there was no schedule or sign up. Was it a ad-hoc unplanned thing?

2, Am I right in thinking that once the daily guild rep cap is reached, then any guild achievements do not contribute further and thus the points that "could have been" are lost, for good? Since you can only get achievements once that is. Cos,it was hit pretty early and people continued and carried on getting the achievements.. I understand why (not like you'd turn around and go "ok, we're done, cap reached lulz") and I'm not complaining, but isn't it detrimental to the guild progress (level wise) to "waste" achievements this way? And isn't that a crap design decision by Blizz? ;p

3, Does individual achievement contribute to the guild level or is it just the guild achievemnt itself (the one-offs such as kill blah in heroic blah).

.. Lastly, who's up for an Ulduar 25 run? ;)

Guild achievements do not award Guild Rep.

From wowpedia:

Guild reputation is gained through the following means:

* Turning in a quest
* Guild group boss kills
* Guild group pvp activity

So, the act of killing the boss would award a small amount of Guild Rep, but the achievements themselves would do nothing.

From here:

The top left of your minimap will show a small flag with your guild logo indicating if your instance qualifies for Guild achievements. Hovering your mouse over the flag indicates the status. If it isn't showing the flag then your group won't qualify for guild XP/rep.
Raid and Dungeon boss kills

Guild xp for boss kills is scaled on a few factors.

* Boss level
* Normal / Heroic
* Amount of guild members present (more xp for raids, since they are limited to once a week)
o 20/25 - 25 player raid
o 8/10 - 10 player raid,
o 4/5 - dungeons
o 10/25 - Old 25 and 40 man raids (Vanilla, TBC, and WOTLK)

Arena victories

* Amount of guild members present
o 2/2
o 3/3
o 5/5

Rated battleground victories

* Amount of guild members present
o 8/10 - 10 player rated battleground
o 12/15 - 15 player rated battleground

Just because we already have the achievement, doesn't mean you can't go back and get the same guild rep by killing them again in the next lockout :p

1) It wasn't planned apart from someone (I think it was Peepee) saying "let's go do Ulduar, get some achievements and get a drake) - who wants in?". This is not an uncommon, spur-of-the-moment thing. As it was, we failed at Yogg-Saron but at least I got the key to open Algalon, who we 1-shotted). This kind of thing often arises with people chatting on TS but often /g shouts are put out.

2) As far as I am aware, although you may be personally capped for guild rep increases (from daily quests etc) the guild may continue to get rep credit until capped. I don't think achievements (either personal or guild) count towards these rep values.

3) As mentioned above, I think that guild level is only gained from rep/quest XP gains and is not connected to achievements.

As for not carrying on when weekly cap is achieved... meh. Just keep plugging away, we're a big enough guild with plenty of active people that I'm sure it really doesn't matter.

/if anything is wrong here, please feel free to correct me.

I was just comparing achievement levels *cough* and noticed it said yogg + 0. If I remember rightly for the drake Yogg + 1 is what you need. So if you go back keep Thorim. Doing the last phase without him is a ridiculous (from what I heard, we did +1), since he kills off the adds.

Good luck and hope you get your drakes :)

Yes as far as i can tell this was a complete 'spur of the moment' thing. WoTLK content is so easy now that we do not need to organize events to go do it.

If you want to go and do any of the old world raids/heroics/achievements do not hesitate to try and put together a group or if you want to you can set up an event using the in game calender or the one here on the forums.

Similarly if you want to set up days of doing Cataclysm heroics in order to be more organized then do it! Don't wait for someone else to set it up! I in fact strongly encourage people to start using the forums and calender to become more active, even if it is for old world stuff. As long as it does not contradict with any of the more 'official' plans like progression raids then i doubt there will be any objections. If you feel someone may object just clear it with the officers first and it will all be fine.

We were trying to do as much as we could the hardest way ;)
By the time we reached YS it was getting a bit late and as pretty much none of us had seen the fight before we had to read up on tactics etc. The bit that caught us out was the 'portals' phase which was most confusing. I think this is the core of the fight and once we have that figured out the rest will be easy.

/I'm not so much an achievement whore, more just a bit of a tart really

For the portals just make sure you don't look at the skulls, and you should keep your sanity up high :) plus have someone shout when to get out helps :). But like I said try +1 or you will go even more insane in real life with the amount of adds you will get in the last phase :)
