Sorry for the bit of necro threading here, but anyone knows how'd this end up? It's unbelievable.

EDIT: After some searching it would appear he was wrong after all. Borderline Search Authority now ranges 100 miles from the actual country border and within this area mere suspicion is enough to justify a search of the car/person with no warrant needed. Hence, he did not have the right to refuse the search and in doing so he justified their breaking of his car etc. The violence, however, was not justified, certainly not to this degree.
