World of Tanks!

Hello!

I have moved from World of Warcraft to World of Tanks. I might not return to WoWcrack for a while.

WoT rocks in my opinion. Why? Well, this review is pretty good at explaining it:

I like it. I like the fact that it is free, and you can buy premium perks which are useful, but doesn't make you OMGWTFLOL powerful, at all. After all, their income stream must come from somewhere.

Any of you tried it? What do you think of it?

I am on the Euro servers as "Ehich". I have just played a few days, so I am still getting into it.

Here are my current tanks:

I particuarly look forward to playing with the T-34. I am having funfunFUN with the BT-2. Here is the results of one match: http://ehich.net/img/wot/shot_004.jpg

(Yes, I am a wallet warrior. Sorry to purists out there)

Yes, after using the T-34 for a while I must say that I really like the mixture of mobility, survivability, firepower and RoF on this baby. I am not a good player yet so my stats kinda suck (http://ehich.net/img/wot/shot_010.jpg), but I am having great fun with it.

At the moment, I am focusing on the Russian tree, and here is my plan ahead: http://ehich.net/img/wot/shot_011.jpg The numbers represent tanks that I will use and get to elite etc. I will skip the others, but of course do my research on them necessary to go to next tier.

Not going for the T-54 is a crime.

There's a thread somewhere about WoT, but most people seemed to wander back to other games a while ago.

I'm also a massive fan of the T-34. I ran it with premium ammo back when they did one of their half price ammo promotions a while ago, and it absolutely tears through anything it can be thrown against.

Other Russian favourite is the AT-1, so far my favourite TD.

Oh, and if you're wallet warrioring it up, IMO there's no better tank than the Hotchkiss (Pzkpfw 38H735 (f))

@Spicypixel:  Well, you might be right. I realized a few things yesterday. One is that I don't really enjoy heavy tanks that much. Yes, they are big mofos that can damage like hell, and I will go for that T29 (am on M6 now on the USA-tree), but I like the feeling of my T-34 more. Mobility, speed, decent firepower. It is more fun to be able to both shoot upwards and downwards. It is fun to slowly learn what heavy tanks I can take a shot at, and others where I should just get out of it's way asap.

So I think I will focus more on Medium Tanks, and then the T-54 is an excellent choice as far as I know.

I guess this means that when it comes to Heavy Tanks, I will go down the USA tree, but on Russians, I will focus on the Medium Tanks and T-54 is the endgoal. Thanks for the reminder.

@Huung: Yes, I looked at the Hotchkiss and considered getting it, but in fact I am enjoying my BT-2 so much that I just want to focus on it. I am getting to know the BT-2 quite well by now, and once I get more skill I might go and be able to do the double-digit kills you did on the Hotchkiss there. Instead of spending the 800 gold and time on levelling the Hotchkiss, I will just focus on getting towards tier 9/10.

Yes, I guess many people stopped WoT and wandered back to other games. Why, though? Is it because the game is very monotonous? In a way, this game feels like CS to me. Quick matches, and yet there is that depth of for instance sloping armor that adds to the gameplay.

I like WoT a lot and will keep playing it for a few weeks before I decide whether to make a bigger commitment to it.

Right now, as a family father, it is also easier to get away for a quick WoT fight or two, rather than log on WoW to do an instance run as tank. My wife notices the difference (Before: "Wait, wait, I just need to finish this instance run! I am the tank and these randoms depend on me" Now: "Wait, I will just go hide in the bushes a bit then I can help you clean up the puke our son spread out all over the floor")
