Ok, here it is: The WoW 10-day free trial.

There are restrictions to the things you can do in-game, however:

Trial accounts (also known as ?Guest Passes?) are short term accounts usually for a period of 10 or 14 days, which allow new players to try out the game before deciding whether to purchase a full subscription. A trial account key is included with every full game pack purchased. Occasionally, certain magazines or websites might offer trial accounts as a promotion. As these types of accounts are provided purely as a demonstration of the game, certain features of the game are not available to trial account users. The limitations of a trial account include (but are not limited to):

- Not being able to speak on public channels such as General Chat.
- Not being able to receive in-game mail through the mailbox.
- Not being able to use the Auction House.
- Not able to trade items or gold with other players.
- Maximum character level of Level 20.
- Maximum amount of gold allowed of 10 Gold.

Trial accounts can be upgraded to full accounts through the Account Management page by purchasing a new set of game CDs. Once upgraded, all features of the full game become available. All characters created during the trial phase will be carried over to the full account on completion of the upgrade.

There are many reasons for this, the main one I can think of is to stop the gold farmers from creating free accounts so that they can advertise thier wares in-game.

So all you people who haven't got the game but are interested (elDiablo) get it and see whether the lands of Azeroth are really for you!

Sounds like a great idea, i've been looking to get WoW for a while and it seems that all the Guild Wars people have moved on to it. I mean, at least one of the THN Boyz is bound to be online, as it seems they spend an unhealthy amount of time in the land of orcs and beards (must be the elven ladies?). It's a toss up though, because suddenly a few people have expressed an interest in Planetside again - i'll give it a go once my computer is fixed and the exams are over, so I can spend a while just bumming out and playing games.

EDIT: The restrictions are a bit weird, but if you can carry over your characters from the trial when you buy the discs, does that mean you get the 10 day trial, then the 30 day bonus you always get for buying the boxed copy? Or does it mean that you forfeit those 30 days, which are normally used for new accounts?

The 10 day trial is separate... If you then go and buy a boxed version of the game and turn your account into a full account with the CD key provided you will still get your 30 days on top of the 10 trial days, as I understand it...

Nice find, I remember the stir that the Anarchy Online free trial caused (even if that was a YEAR free) so Im always up for a go.

I would like to add that it's probably a good idea to go into the game at some point when there is one of us (Haven, myself, thatbird, Loki/Secord, Nanor, SgtFury, etc...) in the game... this way it will make it easier for you (as we can tell you what you need to be doing and how to play) and also other things, like WHERE everything in-game is...

Just a question, but can anyone that regularly plays WoW tell me how good a Rogue is? When I get the time after my exams, that's the class I was thinking of playing. I looked through some forums and found loads of posts saying "OmGz RoGuEz Suxx0rz!" so if these could be confirmed/denounced it would be great.

Also, are all you THN boyz Horde? Because I was looking through the races and the Alliance look a lot cooler...(post piccies of cool Horde characters if you want to prove how wrong I am) :)

Rogues excel as part of a group. They are a high DPS class, but many of their good attacks are done from behind, and solo you are always tanking up front. The Rogue's attacks are done as combos... you build up points as you fight allowing you access to stronger or more interesting attacks. Rogues are also the only class that can use poisons (at level 20), which starts to give them a wide variety of interesting effects later on that other classes have been achieving since level 10... but then they still have their stealth and DPS too!

I've been toying with the idea of playing a Rogue, though I'm also wanting to play a Druid for the shapeshifting.

Ok that sounds fair enough, the only other major worry I have is that quite a few people were banging on about how little cool gear was available for high level Rogues. It sounds like there are a few balance issues that one or two people aren't too happy about, but there was also mention of a review to the Rogue class soon, so i'm not sure if I need to worry about any of these problems.

That assumes you stick with the game on your Rogue character for long enough for that to matter. By "High Level" people are usually meaning 40's and up, and often 55 and up. Expect that to take you two/three months of dedicated playing, six or more months of more relaxed playing, assuming a single character.

Ok, and the other question, are you all Horde characters? Obviously i'd join the same faction as everyone else, so I could group up and everything, but from what i've seen I don't think I want to be a Troll, Tauren or Orc, so that only leaves Undead really. I don't know why, but I need to be able to like my character to continue playing, and i'm worried that the Undead won't be able to give me the cool cloaked Rogue look i've seen some of the Alliance characters sporting. Only a minor thing, but also, are there any advantages to playing as the Horde? Nanor said that it's a 'pro' thing and more experienced players normally go for it, but the Night Elves look so much cooler!

We are all playing Horde. Be careful -- there are no communication channels between Alliance and Horde, and on PVP servers you can only have characters belonging to one faction. Join Alliance and you'll only ever see us at the other end of something sharp...

I'm not enamoured of the Tauren or Orcs, but I rather like my Troll. Not a fan of the Troll's Jamaican slant but I ignore than most days. Note that Tauren are the only race that cannot be a Rogue.

The Undead, however, are a very cool alternative and would go well with the Rogue thing. Cool cloaks are available all over when you get to around level 20... the long flowing ones that is.

Generally the Horde are outnumbered but that just gives them more reason to pull together. The kiddies go play Alliance Paladins. The vets play Horde. I know where I'd rather be when PvPing!

Exactly, I once made an Alliance mage. The second I created my character, there were 17, yes 17 other level one characters, running around jumping around challenging me to duels non stop. I had to quit the character it was just so impossible to play.

Orcs look so much better than those ghey night elves, and Undead rock.

i two will be purchasing the game on wednesday but unfortunately will not be playing with you fellow thners, unless you play on Tauren Mill, which i doubt.

Its not because i dont like the way you smell, or the annoying habits that you ALL (except twisto, hes lovely ^^) have, i just cant be a gnome horde, and as phryxus said, if i dont like my character i wont play. I think the horde lack a bit of variety, and the undead should look like old dan fortesque, instead of noseless blue wierdos ---> Reference

Good :)

You need to make a horde character on the server called SCARSHIELD LEGION. This server is a RP-PvP realm, meaning that it is a roleplaying, Player-vs-Player combat server.

This makes it damn fun and you get no crappy little kiddies ruining the experience like you would on a normal server.

Join the WoW usergroup if you haven't already and read the stickies to find out our in-game names and a few things you may find helpful.
