In Cryo Sleep
Ok im sure there was a thread like this before but i cant find it and since we're getting a few new members into the guild now this is a friendly reminder as to what Addons we expect anyone raiding to have. It will also include a list of what other mods are also useful. [Also if a moderator could sticky this and ill update any that i miss].
All mods linked are from Curse [http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/default.aspx] feel free to search and find some of your own
Required mods:
Deadly Boss Mods (DBM):
http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/deadly-boss-mods.aspx
OR:
BigWigs
http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/big-wigs.aspx
DBM is vital for everyone to have. The raid leader will usually have it and as a result Raid warnings will be spammed to the raid as warnings. How ever if you have it installed yourself its far more useful, it gives countdown timers to key boss abilities and incredibly obvious warnings when you need to move out of dangerous AoE attacks.
BigWigs is an alternative to DBM, it has all the same fuctionality as well as a few different functionality options. The choice between DBM and BigWigs seems purely down to personal preference
Omen Threat Meter:
http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/omen-threat-meter.aspx
Omen is required for all DPS and Tanks. It gives a visual representation of how much threat your generating and currently have. It also gives a clear visual and audio warning when you risk pulling threat so you know when to use threat reduction abilities, or just hold back on the damage a little.
Pally Power:
http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/pally-power.aspx
Clearly class specific one, but is vital that ALL raiding paladins have it. Pally power gives the user a table which they can use to easily set up which paladin is giving which buffs to certain classes. It then gives the paladin a visual cue to tell them who in the raid is missing their buff, or if they have the buff, how long its duration has left. It makes organising the paladin buffing incredibly less time consuming and confusing and is a requirement.
Suggested Addons:
Recount:
http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/recount.aspx
Recount is amazing for multiple reasons. It mainly acts as a damage meter, but also records a key ammount of data such as healing done, recieved and overhealed. Damage taken, Number of interupts etc etc. Use it as a way of recording your personal progress and compare your output to others.
Atlas loot:
http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/atlasloot-enhanced.aspx
Atlas loot allows you to search through any and all boss encounters within the game and see what itmes they can drop, as well as the tier sets. It is useful for searching for gear upgrades and where they come from. Its also usefuly for seeing what item you get from a tier token and see if it is worth getting.
RatingBuster:
http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/rating-buster.aspx
I know wow has its own item comparison now built into the game, but i personally still find Rating buster to be far easier to use and once customised to show only what your interested in much quicker to decide if something is an upgrade or not.
Decursive
http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/decursive.aspx
Decursive is mainly for healers, but any class with the ability to dispel magic, curses, diseases or anything along those lines should look into this. In fights where such cleansing is vital Decursive makes it much easier to select the apropriate player and cleanse them with minimal effort.
Unit Frames:
I wont link any specific ones just yet, but if any interest you use the search funciton on curse to find them. Alot of players dislike the normal interface, as there are many limitations with it. Unit frames can vary from adding a simple visual representaion to make things easier (like Grid does) or completely re-arrange the user interface to arrange your action bars in a more "appealing" manner. Alot of these new UI's really help with specific roles such as Healing. Ones suggested:
Grid
X-pearl
(ill add more to the list if anyone puts forth suggestions i dont use many myself)
Class Specific:
Warlock:
ForteXorcist: (would like some feedback)
http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/fortexorcist.aspx
Not too sure on the specifics, but seems to be a mod for spell times and cooldowns for warlocks helps with soul shard counts, apperently very useful and has been given alot of praise from players.
Also if anyone knows of any other class specific mods worth looking into please suggest them.
