Proof of purchase* for counting purposes and seat selection since ultimately bloke will probably need them to ensure we are A all togther and B see A.

I do not think this should be discouraged.

All you need to do for that is assign him as your seating manager when the seating plan is opened. He doesnt need to be told your booking ID and he cannot take control of your seat just from your booking ID.
