The time has come and little Nanor is off to university to gain some more exp in promiscuity. I don't have any net connection and I doubt I'll get it until next week but even then I don't have a computer as I'm not taking my desktop up with me.

My requirements are as follows:
  • Able to play Starcraft 2 comfortably on medium graphics
  • Around the £500 mark
  • 7200RPM hard drive

Why aren't you taking your desktop to uni first that seems daft to me especially as you are doing a computing course?

I don't know a whole lot about starcraft's requirements, but those first two criteria sound to me like they're mutually exclusive...

Well I might take the desktop down eventually but no matter what I'm not lugging a desktop up and down the road every weekend so I'm going to need a laptop.

And D, the Dell Studio 15 seems quite powerful? We'll call it £600 then.

The Studio 15 is pretty nice. Not tried it on SC2, of course, but it has a decent basic specification. Expect to turn game graphics down, though, as the graphics card is a little weak, and if you're wanting 7200rpm on the hard drive then also expect to pay quite a bit more. 5400rpm is more standard on the Dell Studio series.

Me and my other half have the sell studio15 range and theyre good enough laptops. I just about play tf2 / l4d2 on it, but its not amazing. Of course you have to get the one with the graphics card! The stock screen is shittyres, but you might be able to get it upgraded to something better. Mines currently on 1920*1200, but I have no idea how much that actually costs.

Is there any reason you must definitely have 7200rpm drive, rather than a 5400?

I just wanted a 7200RPM drive for faster loading. If it gives me some suggestions just stick to the requirement of being around the £500-600 mark. :p
