And you can't think of anything else that might be causing it to look less pixelized? Say, resolution, for instance? The anti-aliasing in panel two is actually what's making it look so blurry...
It's when the pixels are "greyed out" along the edges to give the illusion of smoothness; effective at lower resolutions where you don't have many pixels to play with but not as important at ridiculously high ones.
When you zoom into stuff that's anti-aliased you can see how it's done and it looks quite messy
Anti-aliased text etc. is a pain in the ass in paint programs when you want to fill the surrounding area.. because it's when the greyed edges really stand out (whereas a non-alised item would fill correctly along it's edge)
if you scaled the image down so that the PIXELS were the same size as 3, it would probably appear just as smooth... just by changing the resolution - therefore, there is no diff in antialiasing between panel 2 and 3.
