Aion - Second Impressions

Set your HS to capitol, makes it free to return anytime ;)

I'm level 15 now, gonna give it a break since it's a beta and tryin an Elysian on a diff server. Maybe sorc, or assassin.

Gladiator definitely enjoyable though, can take ddown 2-3 mobs without too much hassle.. and low armour enemies are a joke :p It will be my choice for release, unless the others impress me more.

Only grouping I've done is non-elite with Solemn. I was dissapointed there's no way to tell what quests your group-members are on, like wow. But I guess wow didn't have that until it was over 3 years old either. Pretty sure wow didn't have an in-game mousoever for each stat originallyeither.. *shrugs* games get better with time.

Also regarding stats, most have seemed obvious so far. MP, HP, parry, evade; self explanatory. Would be nice to know how much % you have on some of them, yes. Maybe there is a way.

I have just found something out that will mean I will NEVER play this game unless the GameGuard software is changed.

The nProtect GameGuard software is blocking a number of applications in the background from executing, in the name of "preventing hacks and exploits and preventing people from gaining an unfair advantage over other players".

Note that last part of the sentence, when you read the following list of blocked programs:

* ATI Tray Tools
* Google Chrome
* Logitech G-series Keyboard Profiler - Freezes the Display and prevents any of the G-keys or media keys from working. PISSING ME OFF MUCHLY
* Motherboard Monitor
* Outpost Firewall Pro
* Razer mouse driver
* Steam (content delivery)
* SpeedFan
* The Core Media Player
* VNC
* LCD smartie
* VMware

They are the more major ones, but the following is a more complete list located on wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NProtect_GameGuard#Known_blocked_applications

I am now VERY pissed off and will not be playing Aion any further.

STEAM!

How do they plan on selling via Steam exactly?

Well, they do sell by Steam. And it works, most of the time - Silk got the off Steam. Only this protection program they decided to use is an ass and as such SOMETIMES doesn't work with it. I personally haven't had the slightest issue with GameGuard *shrug*

Been playing around a bit more..

On my gladiator found I could use a bow, comes in handy taking that bit of extra damage off a mob whilst pulling at range. Still my fave class so far.

Been trying scout, should make it to level 10+ (assassin) before end of beta. She is quite cool but boy does she take damage! usually have to bandage after each fight (being as bandages are ridiculously cheap and stack in unlimited numbers, not an issue). Probably a class that gets better higher levels.

I've been grouping with Solemn this time around and still finding it lots of fun. For some reason we seem to be levelling faster in a group than we did solo..

I've been giving the Mage a try, havent yet become all important and godlike, yet, however atm even as a human, i seem to pretty much kill anything before it gets close enough to hit me. However, if the mob does get within smacking range.. i have about 5 maybe 6 standard hits from a mob my lvl before i meet my maker :(

Still so far, i prefer the mage to the scout, however, not a fan of wandering around in a dress all day :/ hopefully the gear will look a little bit better futher down the line!
