Bacon's Daily Stumblings

In Cryo Sleep
I am stunned that a million people bought the game in beta, and only (HA!) 800,000 bought it in alpha. Notch said that the price would do up in beta, so why did these people not buy it before? Was it just a case of people not knowing about it? Like, the non-gaming populous, rather than those who would be considered "gamers"?

I can only think that its a "didnt know about it" thing. I bought it quite a while before beta, but the beta release was sprung on people quite quickly (I remember having discussions with others pondering on when beta would be, and then it was released something like the week after!). Maybe some people thought the alpha would last longer.

But then the same question can be applied to LANs: Why doesnt everyone buy their tickets in early early bird, rather than the week before the event? I can understand for the first time, you might be late to the game, but the subsequent times, you dont really have any excuse I'd say.

In the end it comes down to: People are stupid.
