i was asked to delete said Events and switch it to the form of a poll.. which with hindsight is the right thing to do ..

So here's what i said earlier

Anyone else interested in setting up a ladder team ?

Discuss in here, Conquest or Titan, Team sizes and people whom are interested just say yes!

The date was for when we will decide whether or not to continue with the idea
It is in no way the Date on which thing will happen.

There are of course some other concerns, Servers etc.
We have a couple of options;

• Make our own Server on Promethius ?(i don't know if this will affect the PR server or if its powerful enough to run multiple games ) But this is not ranked.
• Rent a Ranked BF2142 Server from someone like Multiplay ( first name to come to mind, we can debate this later, and if we pick this route can look at other hosting.

well i obviously can't however If you ever want practice I've got lots of brig gens who'd love to kill you. I might even get permisiion to play for you if it was friendly.
I've got a hole load of not so uber leet clan names as well if you want a chalenge you might win. Its arrogant i know but we rock .

It would be awesome if you lot got a team together as there's a load of you about that play and it seems a waste not to to be honest.

When Ronin and I set up the PR server again recently, the BF linux dedicated server install seems to come with the BF2142 ded server as well. If it's going to be a small server (like, 8v8), then you might be able to talk to haven or Ronin and sweet talk them into letting you run it

I'm happy to take on the setting up the server, if need be, but the big cheeses need to say whether you can run it or not.

ukm are a titan clan we be in ED titan ladder and the clanbase titan ladder, however if you lot want to have a 8v8 conquest or whatever there's defo enough ppl who likey inf only stuff to play some friendlies. Its awesome practice for us as well. if you want to get into the conquest ladders on ED then its a nasty lot of competition a few of the clans like INFUK are brutal. If you go for titan then there's some easier clans about and its also alot more fun.

all the ladders I play in all have unlocks, there are some comps that are 1st level unlocks only but they are more big pro comps. all ED and clanbase stuff is full unlocks.

Haven mentioned that he'd like to stress our server some (much?) more than it has been and it should cope with a fair bit of pounding. I'd be fine running a 2142 server, even if only "up on request".

The big issue (isn't this always the big issue) that there are oh-so-few server admins and they have oh-so-little time. Contrarily, we only allow shell access to people who can demonstrate they are safe for us to let loose on the command line and we're notoriously picky on that.

For the moment, proceed as if getting our own server (unranked, on Promethius) is no issue. We can talk about the practicalities/technicalities of who/how/when as this becomes more solid.

I'm marked myself as "keep me updated" as I'm not sure how much time I really have to offer to clanning and I'd prefer that a more dedicated player were given preference over me as a result.

The main point to this would obviously be peoples availability, one thing that tends to happen is you end up finding that its no longer a game for fun, and its actually like work ... ( I'm speaking from a WoW-er's perspective here ... )

As for the server idea, If we set it up just for the idea of having some [THN] based practice, I'll set an event up for this, probably Sunday, late afternoon - evening area, preferably after most peoples dinner.

Most people are stating Maybe, a few have said yes. From the POV of me having done this team leader sort of thing before, I'm quite happy to start everything off, I'll need to confer with bob, about what size the teams are in a standard match because I feel for a starter, we should join the ED ladder where >uKm< are situated to get the feel of things, have a few friendlies and the like.

As before i said the issue at hand is primarily availability. I know Bob's clan use Sunday night for their primary match night, and have another one during the week. I have a feeling that most people whom are interested here are available on Sunday nights, thus making the ordeal an easier one to achieve?

Just say from the off that our clan night will be sunday night. IIRC that's when our bf2 matches were anyway.

errr well we tend to do ED type stuff on a Sunday. 10v10 is the norm for titan and 8v8 or 10v10 is norm for conquest. If you do go for a bit of titan then my only advice would be to seriously think about titan defence, I'm afraid I'm not going to tell you how we do it as it took a long time to get the defence as tight as the ukm titan defence is but almost every team we have played it comes down to how well you defend the titan. also there's more tactics behind a conquest match as it tends to be much more methodical than the titan. Also as far as titan stuff goes, our norm is no commanders no titan movement, commanders isn't so much of an issue but a lot of clans will refuse to play with titan movement as it is gay, also can be used to glitch. also no ramming of any kind, this includes bailing out of air transport and jihad jeeping, it just pisses ppl off and is a cheap way of getting kills. Do it in public server if you feel the need but in matches its a big no no.
errrrr also in titan mode you''ll tend to see a hell of a lot of bunny hopping, I tend not too but there's a lot of it going on.

2142 works quite happily on the mac in lovelly sli 19" wideness

I will definantly be there, and by you lovelly people choosing to play 2142 on sundays I can be part of the clan if we go nuts!

Also, if we need a commander, i'm up for having a try out with it. Bob's often said I would make a good commander after a performance in a savage game we played together so perhaps we can play it by ear.

I could probably set up a ded server on my bethere connection when we go unlimited in a month or so, if it's a problem with promethius.
not entirly sure how bad the 2142 is bandiwdth wore is, but if it'll run on 10mb down and 1.2 up, then your welcome to some space on robotnik... OR i'm up for helping setup the server if ya wants help RS, PM me...

So, just as an update. I've just gone out and brought meself a new 5.1 usb sound card with proper mic and line inputs. So I can now speak to you and hear your replies in lovelly 5.1 goodness!
