Yup. First I selected my own patch and then I used a program that detects the version and downloads that patch accordingly. Neither worked.

I guess you didnt uninistall it enough, i got that bug 6 weeks after bf2 came out, didnt play it for coming on 6 months till the next patch, so your outlook isnt too good. :P

Nanor might be worth treating it the same as a BF2 install. I remember the problems i had at one point and had to go through the registery to get rid of the patch properly.

When i had it with bf2 i jsut waited for 1.4, ya could try installing the beta for the next 2142 patch see if it works and then remove it.

Also if this ladder requires NS someone can buy it for me.

there's no NS ladders.
You may want it for the unlocks as some of them are awesome. Like the IDS

Regarding my patch problems I emailed tech support:

Dear EA,

I've owned many of your games and I would like to congratulate you in particular for Battlefield 2. When I heard of Battlefield 2142 coming out I was thrilled. That soon changed.

The game barely installed, it barely patched and when I played it, I didn't enjoy it. I spent £25 on that game and I thought I might try it again in the hope of enjoying it. I Installed it and downloaded a patch from Fileplanet. It failed to install. It didn't even tell me why, it just gave me an error message and cancelled. Great.

Yes, yes I have reinstalled, yes, I have downloaded the patch from a different source (Gamespot, that chooses the directory for me). Guess what, it didn't work!

Now don't dare reply to this e-mail pointing me towards that Steam-like contraption called EA Link you've cooked up in a half assed attempt to get your name everywhere unless said program was programmed by the big cheese himself. I want you to pretend that you give a damn about your customers and honestly wish then to enjoy themselves with your product and reply to this email with help on how I can install this patch and make it work.

Please help me before I truly lose all faith in your games.

You know that whatever poor soul is working in tech support probably isn't even going to read past the whining in paragraph two, right?

I haven't had a single problem with it. Why are you even refusing to attempt something that could (potentially) solve your problem?

Why would it solve my problem? What's different about downloading it from Fileplanet than downloading it from EA Link?

Have you tried the instructions here to fully uninstall everything you have on your system so that its clean for a re-install?

(if that link doesnt work, go to support.ea.com, select PC as platform then BF2142 as the game and sub-game then do a search for "uninstall" - the page I mean is titled "Manual Uninstallation Instructions for Battlefield 2142")

Try a full re-install after following that as there may be some crap that's left on your system.

im too crap at the game to care..just ask bex...she listened to me complain about getting killed every time i spawned >_>

play a few rounds avec les bob, he will make it his mission to be your very own personal medic.
also can't play tonight as I have a match. maybe on late but i doubt it as i have to be up early tomorrow
