This is pretty much the answer to your question Ronin.Ranked matches will be the ones which require you to play someone close to your own TV, and will then rank you in the league.
Unranked matches will be the standard friendlies, where TV isn't a limiting factor, and you won't move in the league standings after the match.
Pretty much exactly like the AW (unranked or ranked)/Nagg (ranked only) leagues work now.
Having been out the last few days I've not noticed the thread however, the option for open league allows you to enable / disable ranked / unranked, so it is one or the other, or both..
The only downside with this is that in order to have a ranked match people need to be online when you click 'start game' for it to go 'oh here have this game now with person X, Y or Z'
Unranked matches will count towards your TV, but not your overall rank. This also means people who pick up the game late, or can't play as often as some of us, can be slower without holding up everyone else!
