mine and bob's game was pretty brutal, but ended up with a 3-0 win to him. Awaiting validation to fix the brutality somewhat.

Just pipped Comrade Pihl to a 2-1 win. Was dominating until the last two turns, when two of my guys were killed and Phils Sauras ran home a touch down, for the last action of the game :)

Just played Xarlaxas, a brutal game (for him) that ended up in a 1-1 draw, we both had a last ditch chance to score a TD for a win in the last two turns but some dodgy ball handling on both teams' parts let the sides down...

Xarlaxas suffered 2 deaths (despite the best efforts of an apothecary...) and a further injury that will take one of his players out of the next game too...

I would've won too if my silly Lineswoman had been able to run in a straight line! So close, and yet so far. . . .

Well, bloke has softened my team up for the next person! I'm down to 950 value!

Indeed - literally the last possible thing that could have happened, Xar needed to make two going for it rolls to score a TD in the final turn... he passed the first and then failed the second.

About time he failed a roll considering the ones he passed to actually get the ball to said player in the first place... :p

Though my TD came as the last action of the first half, and I needed to pass a sequence of 4+, 2+, 2+, 4+, 4+ to score (and I did) :D

Well it was always going to be a tough match due, in no small part, to the level and TV disparity. But the Gruntz were ready to give it their all and smash some Hoomie skulls in for Gork and Mork!

Unfortunately Gork and/or Mork weren't feeling in a particularly Hoomie smashing mood and decided that the rolls were going to go wrong. Horribly wrong. The game lagged from turn 1 on my offence causing the ball to go to a black Orc rather than my safely tucked away Goblin. Undeterred, however, I made the best cage I could and resolved to hand the ball back to the safely ensconced goblin. Which failed. This caused Ronin to get the ball by turn 2. Of my offence. Add on top of that the fact that Ronin managed to knock out one of only 2 level 2 Black Orcs I have (AV 9!!!) and you can see it's frankly a miracle I managed to hold the score at 0-0 by half time. We'd both picked up 2 injuries during the first half. Despite this I felt confident going into the second half as my lower skilled team would feel the loss of two players less keenly than Ronin, surely only improving my chances!

Yeah. That didn't happen.

The second half was just bad roll, after bad roll, after bad roll. Ronin injured 2 more players, including another level 2 Black Orc (AV 9!!! Arrrrgh!!!) and knocked out another one. On the offence I was getting loads of Attacker downs, on defence I was getting a lot of defender downs. My go for it rolls were a mockery of statistics. Humans were kicking green arses at will! Eventually Ronin got the ball within 1 square of the end zone and was able to sit there until the final turn as my Orcs beat tiny, ineffectual fists against the pale skinned immovable object.

Despite my bad luck I should point out that Ronin played a very tight game, and the win was well deserved. I look forward to maybe playing him again one day when hopefully the gods of dice are more favourable.

All matches validated to this point, including the 2-0 victories for bye-weeks. Just two more to play: Velaphor vs Trax and Iron vs VibroAxe, the latter of which is probably going to be an automatic 2-0 victory to Iron while Vibs is on his holidays.

This Monday evening saw the Storm Heroes facing off against their natural enemies, the Orcs, in Ghazkhul's Grunts. The Grunts, while less experienced, have a fearsome O-line with three Black Orcs and four Blitzers. The Heroes haven't faced such a difficult line since their last face-off against a Lizardman team in last season.

The Heroes won the toss and kicked the ball to the Grunts but that's where it started to go wrong for the Orcs. While a Heroes' linesman was felled by a thrown rock, one of the Black Orcs was so confused he picked off the low hanging ball on the line of scrimmage. Best efforts to hand the ball off were confounded the the Humans who managed to get the ball onto their half of the pitch.

Blocks thrown hard each way, with knock outs and stuns left and right. The Heroes held the ball for almost the first quarter, but some nimble Goblin dodges put the ball free and in Orc hands. Unperturbed, the Heroes' Blitzers swooped into the backfield and recovered the ball once more. Lining up for a fabulous long bomb, Jimmy Dix caught his foot in a small bear trap and went down with a torn knee, taking him off the field for the rest of the game and the next game too.

Valiantly, the Heroes fought back to the halfway line, only to have another blitzer fall on his face and the ball knocked free.

Half time came to a 0-0 draw.

The second half went much better for the Heroes, however, with them dominating possession and dishing out punishment steadily. The Grunts kept doggedly fighting to retrieve the ball but all to no avail and with injuries piling up. Just before the final whistle, Ethan Hunt put the ball over the line to a 1-0 victory, with four Orcs and two Humans in the injury box.

A brutal game all round.

Level 4 Thrower after the by-week win. Pass, Strong Arm AND Accurate on an AG4 WElf? Damn straight.

Eep!

Something tells me I need to start levelling a second thrower...

What about the horns and claws I have on one of my beastmen?

Neither of those would have any additional effect on chance to injure him :p
