Well that pretty much sums up the team ...........

I'm so sorry :(

I had the best luck of any game so far this league, and unfortunately Lucius had to be on the receiving end of it. Solid yet pointless victory for the elves.

2-1 for phil. Could've been 3-1 but him challenging the gods of luck (who starts passing back a ball when he's 2 squares from the enemy touch down line) made that one fail. And speaking of the gods of luck: SCREW YOU SUCKERS!

I should have known better than to challenge those cursed gods when the first dice roll led to Pouring Rain for the duration of the game... Thanks for the game Dragon :)

If I could choose only one word to describe the meeting of Orcs and Humans in the final week of the main league, it would be "brutal". If two, "grudge match".

Through this match:

3 deaths, 8 injuries, 7 KOs, spread across both teams. Fans claim the Orcs struck first, but the Humans managed to get it together in the second half and put the hurt back on their greenskinned adversaries.

James Darrel Edwards, the Storm Heroes' star quarterback, was dragged from the pitch before half time with a broken hand. Apothecaries on the scene were confused by him clutching his hand between his legs, believing he might have had some groin strain, but the broken hand was confirmed when he was clear of the pitch.

It was Casey Ryback, recently noted for his wrestling talent, who was brutally terminated by the Orc line.

In an eye-and-an-arm-for-a-hand, a gang of Blitzers from the Heroes left Da Medikz star thrower with a terminal case of not breathing and shortly later put another Orc into the ground for good measure.

The Orcs lead the first half 1-0 with the Heroes only able to make progress in the second half through some extreme brutality on the line, bringing the score to 1-1 courtesy of Dwayne Hicks with not long left on the clock. Then some fabulous moves put the Heroes almost receiving their own kick and put another in the endzone to make the score 2-1.

The Orcs, realising their early lead was now lost, put the hurt on scorer Dwayne Hicks who is reported to have a smashed ankle and will be missing the next game. Early indications are that Dwayne's agility may suffer in future games but he'll be making up for it with the power training he's putting in between now and the play-offs.

Da Medikz are going to need the entire off season just to recruit their replacements, though rumour has it that the team's Troll may actually be eating those who failed to pull their weight in the match...

Final score, 2-1 to the Storm Heroes, who now limp into the play-offs with significant holes in their roster.

Nearly there fellahs. Just three games still outstanding:

  • BiG D vs thatbloke (Saturday)
  • Ghostwolf vs Traxata
  • Panda vs Bob (Saturday)

I've defaulted Velaphor vs Gombol in Vel's favour (2-0) and validated that.

Bob and I just played our game.

A death of a level three player apiece has left 3 out or four playoff competitors' rosters shorthanded. My ball carrying ghoul got burried and subsequently ressurected, but with no skills.

Bob's level 3 blocker also got killed.

Final result: 2-0 to the Coffin dodgers.

Bob will write a more exciting report I suspect, I might put one up later as well. Tough, tough game, could easily have been a 1-1 draw.

"The time has come" the Golem said,
"To talk of many things:
Of block and dodge and mighty blow
Of Dauntless and guard
And why the dwarves are without loss
And whether Ghouls will live"

"But wait a bit" the Dwarf coach cried,
"Before we have our match;
For some of us are out of luck
And all of us are fat! <--(some lines don't even need editing :p)
"No Hurry!" screamed the Golem.
bobrek feared him much for that.

bobrek had been absolutely dreading this game, both because he knew Panda was a better coach and because his team looked mean and he knew how to use it. The yet unbeaten dwarf coach was seen the night before pouring over tape to spot a weakness in the sturdy Necro team. He had come to the decision that if Panda brought his big guns to the LoS then it would be a Deathroller and Troll slayer combo with the death rollers guard giving bonuses to the fearless one might say dauntless slayers. Panda sensibly put only guard zombies on the LoS however bobrek forgot his plan and put the TS there anyway a decision that cost him dear.

With the Troll Slayers out of position from the start due to poor coaching, they were sucked into the centre of the pitch one was quickly dispatched KO'd the other was expertly frenzied deeper into the opposition half meaning he was no use to his team.
It then went the dwarves way a little more as bobrek knew he had to scrum and force the Necro into a fight. The early mistake made by the coach to do what he knew he shouldn't and put the TS on the LoS the dwarves were lacking their usual blitzing pair. However Maur on his roller took this as his cue and went to work.

Turn five was when it happened, the Necro team had looked like they maybe finding gaps. The dwarves closed them shut, Maur spotted the ghoul (forgot to note Panda's players names sorry) who had been seen as a strong ball carrier all league closing on butrekson who had the ball and a red mist fell. He broke a tackle and hit the ghoul as hard as his roller would allow him killing the ghoul stone cold dead. This buoyed the dwarves and suddenly all the blocks were they had been merely pushing zombies were knock downs and knock outs.

Then in the next turn bobrek panicked looking up at the clock, turn 6 his simple dwarf brain read. That means I only have 2 pushes left (maths is not the dwarves strong suit).
He shouted at butrekson that he must go for the end zone, butrekson looked at the clock made the same mathematical error and ran as far as he could. As soon as he had done so the coach realised his mistake. He had pushed a turn earlier than he needed to sacrificing a strong position in the centre for a very weak position on the sideline with only Glangran the other runner in support.

A wight broke 2 tackles made 2 spectacular go for it rolls and made the hit on butrekson, as unlikely this move was it worked better than the necro coach could have hoped. The ball having been knocked off the pitch was thrown (must have been a necro fan) back onto the pitch in range of a necro player. With all the dwarves held in the middle the necro player grabbed the ball and made a drive down the pitch. He was pushed to the limits of his go for its but the necro coaches luck held and the player stayed on his feet to make it to the end zone with the dwarves not being able to get to him.

What should have been a 1-0 lead for the dwarves going into the half had they waited just one turn, turned into a 1-0 lead to the Necros. To make matters worse the Troll slayer that has been KO'd stayed down and the death roller was sent off going into the second half. This meant the dwarves were down to 9 players going into the second half.

The werewolf then had his revenge on the dwarves killing a guarding mighty blowing blocker. The dwarves disheartened by their team mates decline morale crashed and without the rage of their Deathroller and the Troll Slayer being tied up by zombies started to have some of the worse luck I've seen in BB. Go for it rolls were failing and then rerolling to fails. A ragtag cage of runners and one high MA blitzer were a nothing defense for the Necro coach to brush aside as a blodging werewolf made his way for a comfortable TD to make it 2-0 to the necro team.

Bobrek on receiving the ball again was able to hold onto it to stop the necros scoring again. However with so few players left on the pitch there was no hope of a dwarf score.

OOC:
As expected Panda played very well and made no real mistakes. I however played reasonably but made me 2 major mistakes that had I not done so it would have been a draw. I had nothing but bad luck in the second half with the exception of one go for it that as I had already blitzed was meaningless. Had I waited until turn 7 to push in the first I think I would have scored and may have been able to hold to a draw in the second half. Taking nothing away from Panda at all as I do feel he out skilled me as a coach I was horribly unlucky for a good chunk of the match. Had several instances were 2 skulls were rerolled to 2 skulls. As well as a number of go for its that came up as 1s and were rerolled to 1s with game changing results.

Good write up.

The game hinged on the turn bob pushed down the pitch. It was a werewolf that made the key blitz. I had to make a 3+ dodge against a tackle lineman to mark up the supporting dwarf , two 3+dodges with dodge rerolls, 2 2+ GFI and a 1 dice block to push bob's ball carrier off the pitch. I then had to make another 3+ dodge vs tackle to move to the loose ball, then a 3+ to pick it up, which used up my reroll. A desperate action that went as well as I hoped. In his next turn, bob blitzed my ball carrier (all on his own in a very empty part of the pitch) but could only get a defender stumbles. My werewolf had dodge and sidestep, which meant that all bob's blitzer could do was push him, and with sidestep, actually moved him closer to the endzone.

Surprised you made all those rolls at a key time in the game about ][ that much. Gratz on the win though mate.

This does explain where all the decent rolls that my team never gets went

I am happy to declare that while my unlucky streak continues, bloke's unlucky streak is far superior to mine.

My 1 + 1/2 games against trax we're pretty exciting. First 8 turns i was winning alot. I put out 7 players KO and scored a td by making the only way trax could blitz me was the direction that knocked me into the endzone. Then Trax crashed.

Second game frist half. Trax kicked me up and down the field. He KO'd two of mine and then killed a lineman. I made a gentle breeze at some of his players and my yhetee spent the match on the floor.

Second half. I fought back, badly hurting 3 players and KOing one. Trax almost made it to the endzone a second time but then i finally got a luck enema and blitzed the ball free, grabbed it and ran to the endzone.

1-1 draw. BUT technically 2-1 in aggregate :)
