Very minimalist. Quite like that, actually. Though, for a banner, it's hard to tell where the edges are. Try a thin, soft, grey border around the entire banner?

I prefer the motion trail on the pyro and I think it makes the pyro look like he's running faster than the scout. As I now understand what you were trying to achieve I can see the longer trail for the scout but it's less pronounced and, at first glance, I though it was just an interesting pattern between the lines of text.

That said, the banner works anyway, whether the pyro is outrunning the scout or the scout is chasing the pyro at uber-speed.

If you want to achieve a slower pyro, perhaps, but I think the pyro's motion trail is cool. I'd probably suggest accentuating the trail for the scout, but making it shorter so that it's more obviously a motion trail and not a pattern on the banner.

I think my impressions are corrupted now. Too much thought on design to evaluate the effect fresh.

I still think the pyro motion trail looks cool but he certainly seems slower without it.
