No it doesn't mean "Knowing" there isn't a god because as I have said above no one can "Know" if there is or isn't a god, just like (to use Bertrand Russell's cellestial teapot) no one knows that there is or isn't a china teapot orbiting the sun between Earth and Mars (noting that the teapot would be too small to be observed by even the most powerful telescopes).

Bearing in mind this analogy wasn't really intended for what I'm talking about, it still shows what I mean. There probably is a few people that will say they "know" there is no God, however this would be a tiny minority - and not a true Athiest in the majority of peoples views of it. I also wouldn't say that it's a belief in not believing in a god, just as I'm sure you wouldn't say that you believe in not believing in "Zeus" or "Thor".

According to adherents.com there are approximately 4,200 religions in the world, so ofcourse there are going to be religions that aren't scripture based and that don't deny evolution, however a majority of religious people do believe that God created man as we are justnow. According to a NewsWeek poll 48% of Americans (Total Americans not just Religious Americans) believe that "God created humans pretty much in the present form at one time within the last 10,000 years or so" -Source-

So ofcourse when I'm talking about Scripture and Evoloution it isn't going to apply to every single religion, but it applies to a hell of alot of them and a hell of a lot of people that believe in them.

There are many things I don't like about religion(s).

1, How some followers think it's ok to bang on your door to try and "teach you". Um if you have a belief, great. Bully for you.. but trying to force it upon others is, and always will be morally wrong. I believe the exact same about parents who raise (i.e. force) their child(ren) into the same religion as them.

2, I also abhor any religion that preaches it is "wrong" to be gay (um hi, so God created us as we are, but he hates gays.. but it's ok he'll forgive us if we don't "practise" homosexual behaviour.. mmmkay!).

3, A lot of religions are also very, very sexist. I think in one country they even remove their womens.. umm.. sexual organ that produces pleasure (starts with a C) at puberty. Some die from the procedure. Which is lovely really isn't it. Then we have some religions where a man can marry several women but if a woman cheats (nb. if they get raped, they are also "cheating") then she will be stoned to death. Then to a lesser extent, we have religions where a woman must cover all but her eyes behind clothing and walk behind her man at all times. Deary me.

4, Lastly most if not all wars are caused by a conflict of religious beleifs. So I have some negative thoughts about it because of that too.

So yeah, good on the bus athiests!

btw I am not athiest, I class myself as simply.. "myself". I don't need a tag. I believe there are lifeforms other than us, some great enough to probably be classed as god/gods, some of which may or may not be responsible for us being here today. But it's all a great big unknown, to us all, and I think far too many people get caught up in religious brainwashing and fear of death and forget how little we actually "know".

Personally i don't believe in god, any of them mind you. And as such i dont have a problem with this ad, as long as people don't start forcing their beliefs upon me on my door step im fine.

I also tend to agree with silkth in that a lot of wars are caused by religion and frankly the world would probably be better off without it. Things like the crusades and holocaust (i realize that the holocaust wasn't only aimed at religious groups), massive loss of life for a being of some description who may or may not exist.

I can't say that religion is all bad though, looking at it from a historical point of view, who knows what the hell would have happened without religion to guide us even in the pathetic manner that it managed. Yes they made alot of mistakes and yes more often then not the idea of religion screwed your average man, but the fact remains that religions basically governed europe for a long time and it wouldn't be the place it is without that (maybe).

And Nanor... bad.

I've just realised I haven't quite put my input into this.

I don't like it when religious denominations shove their beliefs down my throat, so I don't feel we should shove ours, or lack thereof, down theirs.
