Quick reminder - I'll be on TS from 2pm, TS is not a requirement but I will need to have you on my steam list (either as a friend or in the THN group) so that I can invite you to the game if you want to play :)

I'd play if I wasn't out in a cabin in the woods, picking mushrooms and playing board games. But next time :)

Had 6 of us playing this afternoon, was good fun :)

We had:

Myself as Russia (random pick)
Panda as India (random pick)
Comrade Phil as England
Xarlaxas as France
Ghostwolf as the Iroquois
Gribley as America

We spent some time building up, then panda took exception to my having a unit exploring near his lands and killed a unit of mine, declaring war in the process... then all hell broke loose. At the time of this attack, I had an active defensive pact with xarlaxas, so he also declared war on panda.

As he was on a different continent, I had to muster an army and cross half the world with it to be able to retaliate. At the time, most of my units were on the other side of my territory, so I started moving them east, into a position where I could easily take to sea and land on his shores to exact my retribution.

After my units got about halfway, comrade Phil signed an agreement with panda and ended up declaring war on me, and at the same time my so-called friend Xarlaxas made peace. This meant I was on my own against both Phil and panda... fortunately due to the lie of the land, Phil had a considerable distance to travel, and after some naval skirmishes, peace between Phil and myself was agreed.

During these skirmishes, I made some trade agreements with ghostwolf, including an open borders agreement. I was then about to launch my assault on panda from my eastern border, across the sea for three turns and then south through ghostwolf's territory, and then Xarlaxas attacked me from my now weakened western front, attempting to take advantage. Fortunately for me, I had two cities that were able to churn out any unit I wanted within 2 turns, and a large supply of gold to go with it, so was able to create a defence without compromising my expeditionary force. The support of my navy was useful in this, harrying xarlaxas' coastal forces, which I was able to do due to the lie of the land.

As my expeditionary force landed across the ocean, gribley then decided he wanted a piece of the action and started aggression against ghostwolf, but with an army that was way outclassed by ghotswolf's. As I started the march south to exact my retribution for the loss of my Russian Lancers, Xarlaxas was able to build a citadel bang in the middle of the three hex wide passage of land we had between us. At about the same time, comrade Phil then attacked Xarlaxas from his south, albeit with a an army of obsolete units as far as Xarlaxas was concerned. The distraction was enough to allow me to get a pair of artillery units within range of the units in and around the citadel, and at the same time some technological advances had given me access to Bombers, which I was able to use to first soften up his forces, allowing my mechanized infantry to then march in to the citadel and destroy it.

At the same time, my expeditionary force on the other side of the world had engaged panda's forces outside his city of Delhi, and was laying waste to anything that moved. Rather than losing his capital, he instead negotiated a successful peace treaty by offering me his other two cities, allowing his capital to remain intact. I moved my forces into my two new cities and sat in wait.

At around the same time, the American civilization was wiped out by the iroquois. I didn't actually see any of this conflict myself so I can't really comment any more than that on it myself!

Back on the other side of the world, xarlaxas' forces were rapidly dwindling under a combined air, sea and land bombardment and just a few turns later his capital fell.

At this point we ended the game. Two players had been eliminated, panda was crippled, Phil was way behind on science and ghostwolf was only about half the size of me, but was my nearest rival. So:

1st - me
2nd - ghostwolf
3rd - phil
4th - panda
5th - Xarlaxas
6th - gribley

Panda with issues...

It was a missclick. I wasn't concentrating, as I was painting, and I misclicked on the pop up message saying 'this will mean war'. Bloke then proceeded to act like a bully, and wipe people off the board.

I just acted like the proverbial little s**t and helped whoever was most fun...which was fine until the battleships showed up.
