Hey, :)

Yeah, I played the campaign on a friend's machine, when it came out, a while ago. :)

Naturally, the campaign game is nothing like the "actual" game! :D

Cheers,
J.

Ok, ghostwolf and I /occassional tempscire play a rotation of games most evenings between 8-12pm dependent on who's available and what we feel like. Currently we have been feeling DoW a lot. My steam name is Panda with issues... so feel free to befriend me and get in touch that way. My Gash for windows live account is Pandawithissues or something similar, but i'll only use that whilst in DoW. Feel free to add me on that too. We'd be very open to some 3v3 where we actually know everyone for maximum teamspeak banter. We're normally in the left for dead channel no matter what game we are playing.

If anyone is interested, the other games in our current rotation are L4D (all too infrequently now days), ArmA 2, Sins of a Solar Empire: Entrenchment and World in Conflict. I would personally love to see a jump in people playing ANY of those games with us. We tend to enjoy games in which cooperation is crucial (hence WiC, L4D ArmA 2) and more people just makes these more fun.

I'd certainly be up for an extended Sins campaign, but that seems a bit of a pipe dream at the moment.

And yes, the campaign for DoW is nothing like the online game.

Hey, :)

Hmmm... I have WiC on Metaboli and have been meaning to give that a shot...

I may look for a game, some time soon. :)

In Cryo Sleep
Me and Masia found co-op campaign on primarch difficulty to be incredibly stressful but also incredibly fun. Kept our interest for a while, and is definately worth it imo.

Personally i find the multiplayer a bit lacking but the campaign made up for alot of it

Do yourself a favour Zooggy and get into WiC. It's potentially the best RTS ever (as long as you don't obsess over base building), and I don't say that lightly.
Multiplayer and clan support is also streamlined and excellent. The single player campaign is geared towards teaching you how to use each of the units (and tactical aid strikes) effectively, which comes in very helpful in the multiplayer, which has more legs than a centerpede.

Hey, :)

Oh, yeah, I've seen WiC being played and it looked awesome, no so much because of it being an RTS, but rather, because it's actually an RTT, which is awesome. :)

Sort of a cross between Shattered Galaxies and Close Combat: Bridge Too Far.

Right, I'll take a look at WiC as soon as I get done with the last mission of Splinter Cell. :D

Cheers,
J.

Hoy, :)

Gah... Metaboli took World in Conflict offline. They claim to be almost ready to put World in Conflict Complete, but their "almost ready" lasts anything from one week to two years... :/

J.

Hi, :)

Just to let you know, WiC Complete was released on Metaboli yesterday, and I are now downloading. It's a 6Gb pull, though, and it's going to take several hours... :|

J.

Hey, :)

Good stuff zoogy. Me and ghostwolf may well play some over this weekend. We'd love for you to join us

Hmm... I think I'll use what little weekend gaming time I have going over the single player stuff before I start diving into servers and whatnot. :) But, come next weekend, or maybe during the week, I'll probably be ready toget my feet wet...

Cheers,
J.

Beware the campaign is different from multiplayer..... Can't seem to keep any units alive in multiplayer :)

In fact they're so totally different that learning one actually hinders the learning of the other were you to play in the same playstyle :p

Hey, :)

That's pretty much true of *any* RTS/RTT game, though, isn't it? :D

Cheers,
J.

To an extent, yes. But SP in DoW2 is very much based around the storyline of having a few crack troops and keeping them alive. The multiplayer is based far more on holding ground and fast responses to events.

I was, and still am a massive RTS fan, but with the Original DoW series, knda got killed by the introduction of Air Units (They are, so very overpowered) so they ruined it for me, and DoW2, online, ive had nothing but idiots playing with me, who go "u noob", when i ask them if they have any tactics, then "DC", and alot of the time, people who cant handle the game try and play, and so DC, leaning a AI in their place, and the people who can handle the game, refuse to speak to you (And if they do, its not in english)

Yeah feel your pain mate. The issue is that you can be having the bast game of your life on DoW and still lose if your teammates arent there to back you up.

Most of the multiplayer is built on the team experience. If you go it alone its just a russian roulette when you have ppl assigned to you whether or not they are any good.

I've beaten this by getting a few freinds who i know and played with who are half decent. Some i know from here and some i met while playing as a noob and added to live. It enhances the experience having a team you know you can rely on.
