Well I am afraid these are gonna be delayed to the latter half of february as DICE want to address some more issues. To see the entire community update click Here

Bleh on removing the mine pickup feature. As for Euroforce I'm not convinced its going to be worth it so I wont miss it :)

They reckon they've fixed the blue/red bug though at least......

Nanor was having great fun with that last night :)

And it is for that exact reason that I like Blizzard's mentality of not actually releasing a date for patches/updates/whatever... they just say it'll be out "when its done." That way i'm never disappointed when something is delayed! I also hope this patch sorts out the damn server browser

Well Euro force is basically a pack of new stuff for standard bf2 so a server may run strike at karkand, mashtuur city and then the great wall (New map), it wont be like special forces which is completly serperate.

So, if I don't download the Booster Packs (highly likely for various reasons), what happens when the map rotation hits The Great Wall? Will I just get kicked from the server or will my computer be likely to throw a major "hissy fit" and blow up? I'm guessing the latter.

Sounds very much like a case of - buy the add-on's or never play again. I don't pay MMO's because I feel that I shouldn't be forced into paying more than I choose to in order to play a game. Things like Special Forces are different as I could have chosen not to get it and just played "vanilla" BF2, but if these are going to impact on my options, I have to say I'm not happy about this.

Well to tell you the truth i am not sure how they are going to do this. It would be highly unfair on the people who dont have Euro force if they got kicked when one of the maps came along.

If it is anything like the addon packs for BF1942 there will probably be certain servers with different map rotations that include the other maps.

If you don't have it, it may either kick you or not let you on it in the first place not sure.

So either way, we're back to my enjoyment and experience being reduced by the fact that I'm not gullible enough to be robbed by EA? (Not that I'm saying people buying the booster packs are gullible, it's their money to spend how they want ;) )

Seriously though, I do wonder whether EA actually sat down and decided to rip us off, or just thought it was a clever marketing ploy.

Its not really a rip off, I mean £5 for some extras I think will be worth it

It can be justified in some ways, like recovering the cost of making the thing, but then again it cannot.

How they'll implement it, who know's after all it's their service, it can be changed without notice quite legally.

What I think will happen, is perhaps something along the lines of America's Army Special Forces - I.E in AASF, those who don't have SF were limited to playing the "local forces" so perhaps they might implement something along the lines of "no europe pack? play MEC biatch :p " Even then I'm not sure how it would work.

Perhaps it will be like S-Fury said, and it'll boot people off, whilst this might not be ethical, it's perfectly legal and as can be found in the "haven net" agreement policy, I'm pretty sure you'll find a clause somewhere that says "service is subject to change without prior notice"

In all honesty Wraith you should just get off that fucking big soap box you're stood on, keep that £5 in your pocket to buy the expansion instead of pissing it against the wall and be happy that EA are going to breath a bit of life into a game that's over 9 months old now. :p

I don't understand why people get so fucking arsey over buying extra stuff. :S Yeah so what, you might not be able to play on the same servers as people who have the booster.

I for one welcome the opportunity to be able to buy high quality maps, extra guns and vehicles, and new player models. I'm not being forced into this decision I want to get it.

The only thing that 'forces' you to buy this Wraith is the fact that you will want to play with your mates online, who will have the patch.

Personally I think that subscription services and download clients (STEAM) are the future and are a bloody good system. Even though it means more money to EA (the big, evil, mega-corporation that it is) it will also bring more money to the developers which can only result in better games for us. :D

Well said. Im looking forword to playing as an army that has some remote significance to european armies. Oh and if you think £5 is not worth it then check out BF2's official site, there is quite alot of stuff your getting for it.

I apologize if I have offended some people with my comments. In my (weak) defence, I was drunk, tired and grumpy when I posted, and ended up sounding more bitter than I'd intended.

However, I do still have issues with the way EA have done this. I don't like being dropped from servers for any reason. For example, the other day I got kicked because I killed someone twice in a row and he turned out to be the server admin. This really irked me as I'd found a decent squad to work with on a public server (which is a rarity as we all know) and was thoroughly enjoying myself until the admin with a power trip decided to throw a tantrum about being killed. I understand and accept that things like this happen, but that doesn't mean I have to like it.

Likewise if I was to play on a server and got a message popping up saying something along the lines of "Your connection to the server has been lost due to incompatible content, click here to download Euro Force Booster Pack for £5", I'd be likely to get irritated. If it then happens repeatedly (which is quite likely as the majority of servers will undoubtedly install the boosters) then the number of servers I'll be able to play on for any length of time will be quite small. This could conceivably seriously restrict my options when it comes to choosing a server to join. Given that my copy of the game is only finding about 150 servers when I join, anything that causes half of them to be unplayable for me is not something I'm looking forward to.

But the biggest problem I have with the booster packs is that they will only be available by downloading them. I have no problems whatsoever with paying for extra content, in fact I welcome extra content (I bought Special Forces on release), but I would be much more likely to buy the boosters if they came on a disk, instead of being download only. Even if it was a choice of £5 to download or £10 to buy a copy on disk, I would go for the latter. I just like the security of having a hard copy in case of any problems. I realise some people would think that I'm quite daft to worry about this, but that's just the way I am.

In conclusion, it's not the money, it's the lack of options, both on method of purchase and the potential reduction of available servers. I may get the boosters, but it still feels a bit like coercion.

P.S. @ pHatBambi, I don't feel that I'm on any kind of "fucking big soap box" as you phrased it, I'm just expressing my own personal opinion. I also don't think the rant was particularly necessary. I have my opinion, just as you have yours. If you disagree with my opinion by all means let me know, but I've always tried to keep an open mind when dealing with peoples opinions, and I'd appreciate the same courtesy.

Fair enough Wraith. My apologies for my aggressive comments.

I have more to say but I think I would just be reiterating my arguements and there's no need for that.
