See here:

Totally free, with some restrictions that don't really affect gameplay or stop you playing all the way through (e.g. can't use broker, or send ingame mail)

Slidey and I are playing so far.. there's only one server if you wanna join! I'm actually enjoying it so far.. plenty to see and do.

My chara is Bemused, he is Slidey.

I miss MMOs so I'll download it and see if it sparks my interest. I promise nothing, especially because I have TONS of other games to play (Minecraft, Company of Heroes, Borderlands and others). But, we shall see :)

How much time are you putting in, very roughly, each week?

I played EQ2 back at release but found the time requirement punishing to keep up with serious players.

Um I don't think anyone is rushing, because it's free. Personally I've spent more time crafting than levelling.. heehee. So far we got about 7 players, from lev 1-20. You can mentor lowbie players (forcing you to their level and giving them an xp bonus) so it isn't an issue how far behind or ahead people get anyway.

I should know guild details tonight or tomorrow, will keep you posted.

Gombol; the downloader is awesome, you can play within 10 minutes of setting it off. Clever stuff.

S far we ave 8 peoples, just not been online at the same time for us to have the 6 required to setup a guild.

The 2 you know are myself (Bemused) and Slidey.

So if you are playing drop us a PM, and post here with your chara name. We'll sort something out :)

Started playing 'EverQuest II - Extended' a bit now.
Still a bit buggy here and there. But still fun :)
No idea of the times I am on there, though, as it is only when I feel that I have a little bit of time between everything else that needs doing ;)
Half-Elf Berserker
Gathering of all sorts and questing thus far :p
Perfect for exploring things!
Also: UK English language for server is win!

Yeah there's plenty of content that's for sure. I think I'm addicted to collecting collections and re-arranging my house. Also I like doing the lore and legend quests.

Now that I think about it, I'm surprised WoW doesn't have housing. It's a whole new level to have certain rewards be placable in your own house.

Poke Slidey or Bemused in-game if you want to join us :)

Reason wow doesn't have housing:

You would get large villages in the middle of the zones, ruining questing and the like.

A game that does housing "Well" is SWG, where the zones are about as big as 6 wow zones.

Not sure how big a EQ zone is though, so can't compare.

EQ2 Vs WoW - Housing, EQ2 group/guild

The WoW Dev Team had some ideas for housing. But as it is only a minor concern and thus not of priority, it isn't likely to happen any time soon.
One idea for Player Housing/Guild Halls was to have it instanced(See City of Heroes/City of Villains). But yeah. Not going to happen in the near future. More important tasks at hand. Like taking care of all the other stuff that need upgrading/fixing :p

As for joining: Just might give you a poke at some point, should we be on at the same time ;)
Keep in mind, though, that I may not have all that much time to do things with the guild. So would be more a casual member that drops by every now and then :)

Um.. Gombol.. the houses are instanced - you get to them from one door and you load your private version of that "house". You don't literally have one house physically placed in the game-world per player.. only game I saw try that was DaoC and it was insane. I know it's more realistic but who on earth wants to treck miles to find a friends house, or any particular person's house if you are buying something from them.

Instanced housing is the way to go, and is what I meant. You can enter any house from one portal in effect (though you can only see people's house if they grant public visitor rights).

And Fae - we're all casual. We generally just fool around, don't plan anything in advance, die a lot and talk rubbish. You might even end up looking for a more serious guild, if you want to raid later in game :p

Also, whilst I'm a blizzard fan I have to say with their budget and success, instanced housing would surely not be particularly difficult. EQ2 is as old as WoW, with a much smaller team and budget.

Heck they can employ me to do it, I'd love that :D

Cannot take EQ II serious enough to even bother to think about raiding there. This includes seeking even half-baked somewhat serious guild :p

The guild: A silly causal guild. Loving it ;)
Will poke you at some point tonight, should you be on then :)

Yeah I will be, later on as I'm gym'ing and eating first. Look for slidey or indeed anyone in respawned if I'm not there and poke them for an invite.
