...Of the upcoming changes? Looking for something to tide you over until the next influx of big MMO's? Why not Rift?

Link in the OP. Now quit trolling the WoW section, you know I'd get slapped down hard for posting a WoW recruitment thread in the Rift forum, so... shoo!

[mod]Broadly agree with Razaak here. Not going to intervene just now but the Rift posts are pretty obvious in their own right without cross-posting. Rift stuff in Rift box, WoW stuff in WoW box, basically.[/mod]

Agreed, this isn't really WoW related. But how else am i going to shamelessly plug the newbie friendly THN guild on Argent (RP). That's currently recuiting skilled Havenites to gear up, have a crack at some 10 man raiding an ultimatley enjoy ourselves?

That's right. The Defiant side THN guild on Argent (RP) are looking for dab hands at PvP, PvE, RP and general funsies.

But who's on there you may ask. Well my firends, we have many old-hands and friendly faces from THN. Why not come see for yourselves, especially with the trials that are now being made available to all you wonderful old and new timey-wimey people.

Nah... For some reason Rift just wont do it for me.
Its been 3 times now that I have given Rfit an honest try and every time I say NO.

Yeah.. Maybe I am Blizz fanboy and perhaps even somehow brainwashed to love all that is Blizz.
E.g., During the time of the announcement of MoP and playable pandas I had this huge smile and urge to play a fat jiggly panda.
Race change here we come!

PS. Borderline offensive* posting Rift recruitment threads on WoW section.
*perhaps offensive is not the correct word im looking for but I think you get what im trying to say here.

Are you even talking about the same game? Yeah, it's not got the cartoony silliness of WoW, but devoid of humour? Not even close.

I read quests.

I played for I don't know.. couple days real time. Didn't see one NPC lighten up. It was all super serious, allll the time. Got very bored.

I'm no wow fangirl as I ain't playing that right now either. But rift is just wow with fancy graphics, real time world events, and like I said, zero humour in the dialog. I don't mean siliness I mean just a normal level of wit like in day to day life. They're robots basically.

Then clearly you missed the stuff to do with Sylver, Prince Hylas, Scotty and Atrophinius (some of those are Defiant, some are Guardian; I don't know which side you played). Later on, Defiant-side, there's bits here and there with Adrianna Weaver and Kira Thanos/Uriel Chuluun that prompted a smile from me. World events have yielded some amusing parts. Some of the artefact sets are quite funny, particularly the Twisted sets. It's less frequent, more mature humour, yes, and it's sometimes more subtle, but it's there. A world where everything's circling the drain, and they're meeting it with seriousness with a hint of humour, rather than frequent silliness.

If this were the case, I honestly wouldn't still be playing.

I think another thing that put me off was a major rift event where a big boss was basically anti-melee. With no graphical or audible prompt he'd just randomly AE which was a one-shot.

Still, I died 8 times helping to take him down.. and got jacksh*t as a reward.

Also the PvP was terrible. I was a riftblade and at one point I'd realised my best attacks were ranged, as my melee was practically useless due to the CC and it's relatively weak damage. So I was just getting to grips with that and almost on par with ranged classes playing that way when BLAM class nerf to riftblades, to their ranged attacks. Within just a few weeks of launch, lawlz.

So then our ranged was useless and our melee was useless and I thought you know what, if this is the shape of things to come.. just nah. I like playing melee but if I'm gonna PvP I expect to do big damage, a lot more damage than a ranged class, especially with the amounts of CC in the game. Coudln't find a class like that, seemed that rift had made the same mistake as DaoC in that ranged was simply the way to go unless you liked a challenge.

Watch the (by default) tiny cast-bars. Can't rememeber this being an issue for me back in the day. Either way nowadays theres a DBM esque warning on the large attacks such as a 10yd AOE.

Rule #14 - A Dead DPS is 0 DPS.

Riftblade as low levels was considerably OP, warriors were doing more damage than rogues/mages at a range of 30m and that damage wasn't affected by gear. Hence the nerfs.

So then our ranged was useless and our melee was useless and I thought you know what, if this is the shape of things to come.. just nah. I like playing melee but if I'm gonna PvP I expect to do big damage...
Champion/Paragon did silly melee burst damage in PvP.

...a lot more damage than a ranged class...
Top DPS in PvE environments is currently warriors.
