A network card was what I meant when I said modem. XP doesn't recognise my network card on a reformat.

Wa-hoo! I'm back and it all went well My computer is a lot faster again, which is cool. Now I just have to re-install the games I want, get AVG and ZoneAlarm, run a defrag and I'm sorted
