So I thought it might be nice to restart this thread here :)

for those of you who aren't familiar with this, here's our team page. Get signed up, if you feel you have the spare cpu time and think you could use it in a charitable way :D

we're currently at 4090th place, with sasniper the biggest contributor, followed by gringotsgoblin (grr) and third, yours truly. Ronin Storm is working his way up the list too.

What does it do? Aimlessly take up your CPU power?:p

What is this charitable way?

Okay, I figured it out. It "folds" protein virtually and sends it off so scientists can get closer to finding out the cure for various diseases.

You don't need to do anything, just install and run it when you're not doing anything that demands a lot of processing power. Theoratically, you'll be saving peoples lives!

Ha! And my mum said I was useless :p

well if you're not into biochemistry it's all a bit fuzzy. I'd recommend taking a look at the website, they have a FAQ I'm sure ;)

I started on another block yesterday..But 29 hrs later its still going.
Is this normal.
My comp is fairly decent (3.4ghz with 2mb connection).
I'm not a big fan of leaving anything switched on at night, so maybe running smaller blocks is the answer. Does anybody know how to change the size?

Hmmm, I'm running mine as a service, so it just does what it does in the background. I barely notice it's there...!

um, you can switch it off, it works with frames. whenever you resume it'll just go back to the last frame you worked with, i believe. I've had blocks of frames taking many days to finish :)

If you only have your pc on for a few hours each night then it can take about 10 days to process the large 'blocks'.

Dont worry about leaving your pc on if you dont want to. You normally have about 40 days to process each block before they void it.

I want to see our Team break into the top 1000! and that's only going to happen if we get more people signed up.

Yes this means you Sam.
