Spore got a very good write up in this months PC gamer(91%), though it was pointed out by the reviewer that it crashed 4 times in about 50 hours of gameplay.

A shame that it's only single player, that limits any excitement that can be got from the game. It would have been more appealing had it been a persistent world or perhaps some sort of limited multiplayer mode.

As far as i'm aware it downloads content from other players and populates your universe with that content.

I think that for a game like this, a multiplayer element just wouldn't work - it would turn the game into a race to get into space first, rather than the experience of enjoying what you are doing getting to space

so that people work slower at it to start with
