Guantanamo, is it right?

It is my suspicion that they have an entry barrier system like those on rollercoasters (you know the kind, you must be x high to ride). Well, I'm sure I saw a picture for the Republican party:

"You must have an IQ of 10 or more to join".
For the most part, I think they're successful. Don't know how they let Bush in though! :p

I don't think he's stupid. Stupid for the things he has done that we do not agree with, perhaps, but not stupid in the sense of not intelligent.
Sure he doesn't posess a sharp tongue, or fine motorics, or mimics, but that doesn't say anything about how intelligent you really are. The republican party is a very large organisation and reaching the top there means you have to be prominent and win pre-elections, which have mini-election campaigns by themselves. Anyone remember Howard Dean and "The Scream"? I can assure you the whole process is anything but easy.
And he does have power, the US President is definitely not merely a "figurhead" for policies made by other people.

Pubic: Agreed, because you don't support his cause. However the "terrorists" in Guatanamo didn't go to another country, they have their enemies right at home. What if it was an occupied nation during WW2, and someone of the resistance suicide-bombing a bunch of Germans? Would he be a hero? Does it matter if Afghanis blow up Russians or Americans?

DeZmond: Nice one with the "Totalitarian police state in four easy steps for dummy presidents" guide. Hitler would be proud of you. You only forgot mass censorship and indoctrination. Something frantic like the Red Scare would be ideal. :)

Well, that would almost certainly be the case, except for the fact that at least part (although I think it's the whole) of the reason that Bush was able to do so well was due to daddy's influence and money, as well as the family connections to some other rich families (*cough* the Saudis *cough*).

Pah! I knew I should have made it 5 steps!

That doesn't mean he has 0 talent of his own. Nobody gets there without backing. Besides, the Saudis may back him, but do you think anyone voted for Bush because of that? It's just in their own interest to be friends with the president and anyone who might become one regardless of who it is. You can even turn it around and state it's Bush' mistake for not keeping relations with the Saudis as frigid as he perhaps should have, but that's merely his style.
