Hello fellow adventurers!

This is the discussion thread for the second of our Guild Wars events. If you have any suggestions or points to make, questions to ask or any other damn thing that takes your fancy then you can post it in here.

Here is a link to the event itself:

Guild Wars Event #2

An overview of the event:

Finish the story missions in the Ascalon area (Great Northern Wall through to Nolani Academy) and hopefully reach the Northern Shiverpeaks.

You should also try and clear up your outstanding Ascalon sidequests, but you can return and do them later on if you wish.

Danke, danke. Mit danke!

Okay. So..im confused. Should I do all my ascalon quests..?

Or should I just keep doing one untill I get something called "XXXX" at which point i stop and wait till Sunday.

I would prefer to all of the main line story missions with you lot.

Sorry, there're a lot of comings and goings and it's pretty hard to make clear.

What I mean by sidequests are the ones that you get by talking to NPCs in Ascalon City, or outside at the little encampment with Ambassador Zain and places like that. They sort of stack up in your quest log under Ascalon quests. They aren't crucial to forwarding the story, but they provide experience and, sometimes, skills, which are both pretty valuable. If you hunt around Ascalon (and the surrounding areas, like The Breach to the west, or way down south) you can find quite a lot of them to do, so I was suggesting that you try to complete as many of those as you intend to before carrying on with the stuff we'll be doing on Sunday. If we tried to incorporate all of those into our events then we'd probably still be here this time next year! There's that many of them, and they're all spread far and wide.

EDIT: You make a point, I don't know why I was asking you to do the 'Great Northern Wall' on your own. I think I'll change it so that's included in our Sunday event as well, you don't need to worry about that.

I hope that's a bit clearer for you, if it isn't then I'll try and meet up with you sometime over the course of the week and straighten it out.

Thanks,
Tetsuo

OK, I've updated the discussion and the event to reflect that change of plans. It makes it easier on us all this way, especially regarding the bonus stuff.

In the Guild Wars, level doesnt matter as much as in other games.

Are you still in old ascalon (All green and nice)?

If you are. Do as much as you like there, then if you follow the storyline an event called the searing will happen. Youll know it. Were after that. Tets and Iron will have to be more precise , because i am confuuuuuused!

Hey hey. Tingham is right, we are quite literally just after the Searing event (which happens at the end of the tutorial area). I'd recommend you get to level 5 at least before leaving the pre-searing, but, as Ting says, it really doesn't matter all that much. You'd end up levelling faster in the post-searing area anyway, so it's all swings, roundabouts and seesaws.

By the way Tingham, the Great Northern Wall quest is already open to you pretty much as soon as you enter post-searing. You don't actually need to quest at all before Sunday, if you don't want to. It's probably a good idea, though, because you'll pick up some handy skills from a few of the NPCs around and about there.

Also, what's yer character's name, bobert? Fist'll need it to invite you into the guild, so's you can get your nice shiny cape. Because that's what being in a guild is all about - the shiny cape.

Oh, and we're all about level 7 or 8 or something. Except for Iron_Fist who is 10. That experience whore!

the biggest difference between the elementalist and other classes is that your damage dealing ability is proportional to your energy meaning that hitting lvl 20 early is actually useful as you get more energy management skills that further improve your energy as you get further into the story

By the way , whats the Great Northern Wall quest called? Is it actually called "The great northern wall".

Also. Can we have Bob with us atm? Isnt it 4 people Max?

Yep. You should be able to find it by looking around in acsalon city, I believe. Once you've got it, it will show as a large icon on your map.

Edit: And as far as numbers are concerned, it may make sense to split into 2 teams until party size increases.

To be more specific, you should have a primary quest called "defend the wall". It'll lead you to where you need to be (Ascalon city, up the large staircase and down the path on the right.) Once you've turned that quest in, the mission will show on your map. Can't miss it.

If we have to do it in two teams. I suggest sending Iron with me, as a two man team, as I dont know that much about the game atm, and you three going together with the healer henchmen.

That sounds sensible, since I think only fist and myself know how to do the bonuses, but you'll need to take a warrior hench with you or you'll get ground to dust by the charr.

I knew the bonuses back in the day... I'm sure they'll come back to me at some point :p
