"MW2" on the PC is now going to be a console version, ie matchmaking system for online play.
"FF XIV", is going to be a cross platform MMO game with monthly subscription for PS3 and PC (currently negotitating with Xbox 360), that is to say people on PS3 will be able to interact with PC players in the persistent world of FF XIV.
"DUST 514" is going to be a FPS for a games console that takes place on planets in the actual PC 'EVE online' gameworld.
PC's during 1996-2007 (ish) have been king in that they were the only gaming platfrom to offer HD online gaming. With the release of the PS3 and Xbox 360, this has now changed. Now with MMO games coming out for the console market, the question has to be asked, is it going to be worthwhile for games developers to bring out PC versions of games.
Consoles are easier to code ie with same hardware etc, so cost will undoubtedly be an issue.
My other thought is that new potential new PC gamers, ie lads in their early teens may just find PC gaming too much hassle. The lure of a one off payment of £200 quid or so to get HD/Online/MMO games, which were exclusively only for PC up to about 2 years ago must be an attractive one.
The upshot of this could be developers not having the will to spend the extra money fathing about with the complexity of the PC to produce games where there isn't enough demand for.
