LOTRO Curiousity...

Same problem I am facing with the game. From what I saw in the trial (although quite stupidly I didn't play for the full 10 days) I liked it a fair lot - lots of unique class design (warden, runekeeper...), beautiful graphics, environment, tons of story and stuffs (hobbies? houses? wtf...). Then again I know noone in the game and it would be starting over - I have many friends in WoW and a fairly well established account so any jump to anything else would have to at least carry with it some of the people...

Comparing the number of hours played of STO

It's interesting that both games have about the same hours of play, but STO is on the decline (already!) yet LOTRO is on the up.

I do wonder if we are all missing out.

That's a silly comparison... An MMO will generally start big, decline quickly, and then grow over time. Comparing two games that are in different parts of the lifecycle isn't going to give you any useful information.

Kinship, not guild

You need 8 to form one, but you can use alts as separate characters, unlike WoW, so it can be done with just two subscriptions.

I have a lifetime subscription, but I'm not going to be coming back any time soon, WoW still holds my loyalties, despite me playing LotRO first.
