I had just over 5GB of data preloaded.

It needed about another 200MB on top of that to then install the patch. The patch then took around 50 mins or so to install - after that, the cataclysm launcher arrived and the launcher had another 1.6GB of stuff to download.............. took me around 2 hours 15 mins total

They kinda fucked up with druids.

Thorns is a 20 second buff (about 230 damage on hit, at level 60)

Swipe has a 6 second cD now. =/

Don't I know it. Thorns at 80 for me on Itchi in feral does 2337 damage per hit.... but it takes me out of bear form when I cast it :p
Weird, as casting it in Moonkin form doesn't break me out.
6s CD on swipe is weak, but at 81 we get Thrash, which I'm hoping will help out a hell of a lot. (Swipe, lacerate, demo roar, thrash, lacerate x2, repeat; throwing in free mangles when they come up. At least for AoE that's how I see it).

I've not re-activated yet but reading through the class changes, I find myself allured back to my original class, the mage - and fire spec. I'm not far from 80 so hmmm.

Apparently Fire Mages are doing disgustingly high damage at the moment and they have the shadow of the nerf bat over them. But yeah, I know what you mean, Fire does look quite nommy right now.

I logged in last night and spent about 90 minutes figuring out where I wanted to put everything on my action bars and still wasn't happy... so I have a job to do tonight :D

Also I need to figure out an affliction spec...

I *could* just go and read all these guides and all this other kind of crap but I prefer to try figuring things out for myself for a while first :)

I second what bloke said :) I spent like an hour yesterday learning the new stuff and I´m a mere 70 mental sham! Still, I like the new changes quite a bit - looking forward to fiddling with stuff on my other chars :)

Hmm that's a shame. I didn't know they'd over-done it or made them imba - I was more interested in the dynamics they've introduced with DOT's and AE and basically what I'd define as weaving spells together for a myriad of effects (rather than spamming nukes or rotating abilities which I'll always argue isn't skill but monotomy).

Had that too Bloke, spended an hour on making my priest in good shape again.
Then I wanted to level my shaman, took me quite some time to get things right on him.
This morning I decided to get my lock in good shape. And destruction is really awesome now :)

All that'll happen is that numbers will be tweaked downwards to be brought more in line, not that the core framework will be wrecked.

More 4.0.1 info, relevant to level 80 and below - Gem changes

Posting this for those that are still a bit fuzzy on the stats/gems/colours that have been changed after the patch

As previously announced ( http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread.html?topicId=12730425011 ), we're changing many of the stats in the game. Some stats are being removed entirely, while others are being redefined. These stat changes will affect gems as well, as we've made a series of basic changes to them, including colour changes and stat conversions.
Gems are being changed as follows:

Colour Changes
  • Hit is now blue. This makes blue gems interesting for all specs and classes.
  • Mastery and Dodge are now yellow. This change ensures good yellow gem choices continue to exist for tanking. The addition of Mastery to yellow increases the colour's value to all specs.
  • Intellect is now red. Red needs to be a great choice for casters, and a universally good colour for all specs.
  • If after the patch you have gems that have changed colour, they may no longer match the socket they're in, and the socket bonuses will no longer be applied.

Some stats are being converted into others as detailed below:

Stat Conversion
Attack Power is converted to Agility.
  • Spell Power is converted to Intellect.
  • Mana/5 is converted to Spirit.
  • Defense is converted to Dodge, and sometimes Parry.
  • Armor Penetration is generally converted to Critical Strike.
