For those that havn't seen this:

I like the fact the the entire structure of the interactive element was built and tested first and then scenery applied. It largely relies on us being able to work out what we wish to do, but the main advantage I see of this is that you know where all the redstone etc goes before you put in the scenery. We have a habbit of creating something pretty and then needing to knock it to bits to make it work!

Our ideas ATM are

Harry Potter
Christmas Production Line

Any more? Bob?

Lord Vibs requests all mincrafters to attend a planning session via team speak at 5:45 (timing subject to change) What with the increased size, previously ditched ideas (eg hp4) are potentially more doable, so need to make a decision and discuss specifics!

Tasks to do:

General: Decide on scale of build

Capella: Plan plot and min sizes of each element.
Pingue: Discover and plan music
Bacon/Vibs: Plan building dragon (approx 10 high) firing fireballs, Moving Staircases, Secret Doors behind paintings, Womping Willow, Lake challenge (breathing), Moving Maze with enemies, Misc redstone.
3dge/Icon: This all came out of a TS conversation you weren't involved in so if you want to take on some of the things listed, please do :)

Dragons are: Hungarian Horntail, Norwegian Ridgeback, Chinese Fireball & Common Welsh Green. Fire fireballs, some way of dying e.g. moving/disappearing/exploding/catching-fire.

I like it!

Sorry I didn't manage to get to the planning session.

Having said that!

I like the idea of floor planning everything, but i'd really like to focus on the skeletal redstone design of "the mine" getting the redstone working and then concentrating on the scenic build afterwards. This should mean we can work around the map in a slightly more logical fashion. It will need a small element of pre planning I appreciate in order to get the correct spacing between rooms and stuff, but still we can really make good on the scenic later in the build

I think we want to base of the following map

with a few creative changes along the way in order to make it fit within a square!

In other news...
Our plot appears to be 50% in a swamp, at first I thought this was shit, but having looked at it more and more I think this can actually really help us. The great lake to my mind is a misty swampy thing (someone correct me if i'm wrong). So as long as we orientate the castle and "front lawn" in the correct direction, i reckon we can use this to great effect...

When we say floor planning, we mean on a spreadsheet, not on the plot itself. Have found another map of the castle itself, which covers how it looks in the films. However, am needed to edit it a bit as it's got buildings at odd angles, which wouldn't fit with a minecraft plot. Can show you on Thursday. Am assuming by 'build the mine first' you mean work out the redstone first.

Pretty much!

I've got a few ideas layout wise having looked at the map above. I'll have a play around with some old fashioned pen and paper on the eurostar tomorrow and we can discuss..

If anyone is bored, we need a torch grid to start on the layout process as soon as we can...

Grid dimension should be 10, corner is 1,1

OK, really would like to use tomorrow for putting out a one brick high rough floor plan and then getting started on building the dungeons (no real redstone required down there). So, two questions:

1) Have they dropped the pitch yet (I'm guessing no) and could someone get an ETA for that (I don't know who and how to ask)?

2) Could I have some markers put where you want each half of the castle to fit?

Thanks guys!!!
