Pre-ordered the special edition, not that I care one iota about the alpha access or black armour, just that these guys deserve it and I'm drunk on happiness.

Incredible! However, I cant believe the people that ised to play this like Haven, Ronin, KC, Bart etc. havent replied to this yet. I was expecting big plans! :eek:

I went ahead and preordered as soon as I read this thread. Still can't believe my eyes though! I really didn't think NS2 was going to become a reality.

It's so much more powerful than just revisiting an old classic, though, like I always believed this would be the game to see THN united under one banner again, so to speak. After NS1 things kind of fragmented a bit, and we had a group of people playing BF2, and another playing CoD, and yet another playing WoW or Guild Wars and all that ... but this should sort of bring everyone back together again, or so I'm hoping; and it means Tbone, KC and meself will all be playing together again for the first time in a long long while. I wonder if anybody would be surprised to see some old faces popping up again, like Griffin or Pest or Siksak ...

It's to do with the history.... NS is what brought alot of people to the THN forums and was the first game we played together.
It's a mixture of an overhead RTS where you give people orders to do things but the people are playing FPS. Plus you are playing against aliens which are controlled by people too. It's a heavy mix of stuff but works really well.

It's an interesting one. I've always been of a mixed opinion as regards NS (as I'm sure some of you remember). I hope NS2 is excellent but, for me, whether I'd find it fun would be very much around whether they've changed the commander mode so that it's possible to learn how to be a commander without being voted out of the chair before you get chance to understand what's going on. Or perhaps provide a robust tutorial on the different command options. Or, y'know, anything to make it so that you don't have to magically pass the newbie/proficient barrier as a commander without just making your entire team lose repeatedly.

Theme-wise, I really enjoyed NS, but it was the commander thing that broke it for me.

Just planning some voice coaching so that my ranting drooling screaming is as utterly guttural and psychotic as they can be when I have "the chair" and some Onos is making a cappuccino from spare parts of the ammo dispenser whilst marines debate the pro's and con's of their DPM armor whilst they have a flashlight strapped to their heads.

Let the angry times roll ...

Okay, I'm afraid that I've never played the original Natural Selection, but have heard good things about it, should I be pre-ordering this, if so which version, and if not should I wait for it to come to Steam?

There is only one thing to preorder, and that is NS2. The original NS is available to download for free on their website as a Half-Life 1 modification on steam. There are still a few popular servers out there for NS1 if you do fancy checking it out.

It is entirely up to yourself :p I would recommend it, as I was a huge fan of NS1 for a good few years I'm naturally going to be pre-ordering this.
However I'm sure the game will be readily available when it is released, so you don't have to pre-order.

Yeah I've noticed it a while back, but I've been too busy with my exams and being nice to others.
Oh well, good old NS days. Haven being the lovely cute monkey, who appears to have lost his fluffy toy... aaah good times!

Though I won't be preordering NS2, because I think I have armytime soon.
