Playing a practice game and having alot of fun.

The red guy in the south (an obvious vet) whose race looks like chewing gum given purpose is teaching everyone the value of 'aggressive expansion' while giving you ultimatums of your doom the same way a headmaster of a school may break bad news to a parent about their childs misbehaviour.

We starting this up tonight? If so what time GMT?

EDIT: And what's the process for joining the game?

After reading the writeup in the original link I can't believe you guys are actually playing this game! You do realise that you are going to be ruining years of friendship (either virtual and/or real life) if you want to win, right?

I don't have any friends though... just tools to be used on my way to galactic conquest...

I find with games with fundamentals of diplomacy inserted, one has to roleplay and absolutely never stake real world factors in the game. For example, saying "You know me, you can trust me" and then stabbing someone in the back can be pretty hurtful. However, I don't have a problem with "Ve, of ze alien alliance, offer ze a truce!" and then nuking them 'til they glow.

Yeah, I've found that Ronin's idea is best, I also tend to go into games like these expecting not to win so it hurts less when I am crushed beneath someone's heel. :p

I guess you have to try real hard to draw a barrier between in-game and real life and not take it personally. I find that too hard to do, so i'm keeping my distance from this game.

Good luck and it would be fun to follow if you had a running commentary going.

The problem with a running commentary is that it would give away possible secrets - also, players can only really verify what is going on around themselves.

I personally am attempting to keep a diary of what's going on in the game from my point of view so that I can do a write-up after the game has finished, however.

Captain's Log, star date 2012
Space: the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship thatbloke. Its five-week mission: to capture strange new stars, to troll new life and new civilizations, to awkwardly go where no dolphin has gone before.

And you're quite clearly working with Ronin, using Tempscire to arm yourselves, to attempt to divide and conquer each half of the galaxy for yourselves. Your point?
