If you can, find a 22"+ monitor on 16:10 not 16:9 so you get to reclaim your extra pixels!

16:9 - 1920x1080
16:10 - 1920x1200

those 120 pixels do make a difference :)

P.S. I say 22"+ as that's the size that would natively support 16:10 @ 1920x1200

edit: something like this: http://www.iiyama.com/gb_en/products/prolite-e2607wsd-1/ but that's also 26" :)

For i42, I'll be using 32" LG LCD TV (not monitor) which is 1920x1080

What's the difference between a 70,000:1 contrast and a 4000:1 (dynamic) contrast?

I like how it says in the description that it's 1920x1200 then goes on to claim that it's 16:9 when it is in fact 16:10

Gotta love copy-paste.

People seem to really like the Iiyamas. We had them at uni and they are quite nice.
I don't really like monitors with round bits though, I like the solid square industrial look.

They gave away an 'In emergency break glass' hammer to everyone at i40... I thought that was a little odd.

I would guess the idea is that if you get annoyed you use it to smash your current monitor then you have to go and buy a new one from them.

...... that makes sense.

how did we not think of that at i40?

I don't really understand contrast ratios but is 1000:1 a bit low compared to the 70,000:1 on the first monitor I posted?

"The contrast ratio is a property of a display system, defined as the ratio of the luminance of the brightest color (white) to that of the darkest color (black) that the system is capable of producing. A high contrast ratio is a desired aspect of any display,"

That should give you a simple explanation? :)

Yeah, but it could be that 1000:1 is adequate and 70,000:1 is just pointless. I don't know.

The pair of 1680x1050's I have in 16:10 are 2000:1 but the colour profiles on each of them are different (even though same model, but different batch :()

Are you happy to wait until i42, or do you want a monitor before i42? if so, you can see what some different monitors are like and then after playing with them decide which one you want? I'm taking 32" TV so have two 20" monitors spare.. :)
